Selling a broken or junk Buick Cascada
The Cascada's only recall covered four cars. Campaign 16V844 replaced the convertible roof control module on a handful of 2016 Cascadas built between December 1, 2015, and February 24, 2016. That's the whole recall history NHTSA lists for the model.

The complaint file is small too: 53 complaints across four model years. If your Cascada has a failed engine, a roof that won't work or crash damage, we buy whole non-running and junk cars. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
An Opel with a Buick badge
Wikipedia lists the Cascada's maker as Opel, part of General Motors at the time, with production from 2013 to 2019 at Opel's plant in Gliwice, Poland. It sits on the Delta II platform, related to the Opel Astra J, and its designer was Andrew Dyson. The infobox lists three turbocharged four-cylinders, a 1.4 L and two 1.6 L engines. The EPA lists the Cascada as a subcompact for 2016 to 2019.
What owners reported
We read NHTSA's file on October 10, 2026. Its entries are what owners chose to report, not a measure of how often parts broke.
The engine leads with 14 complaints, and 6 more fall under engine and engine cooling. The 2017 has the most engine complaints of any year, 7 of its 15. Structure comes next with 11, and the 2016 has 6 of them, more than any other part that year. Across all years, 2 complaints say the car was towed and 1 reports a crash.
| Model year | Complaints | Recall campaigns | Top component |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2016 | 22 | 1 | Structure (6) |
| 2017 | 15 | 0 | Engine (7) |
| 2018 | 11 | 0 | Engine (4) |
| 2019 | 5 | 0 | Structure (3) |
Fix it or sell it?
A Cascada is a niche car, so weigh the repair bill against the price of a running Cascada with similar miles.
