Selling a dead or junk Ram truck or van

Yes. You can sell a Ram that won't run without fixing it first. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and a Ram pickup or van qualifies. You sell the whole car as it sits, and there is free pickup anywhere in the US.

Ram is a truck-and-van make. Every model in the EPA list is either a pickup or a van, and none is a car. Below are the complaint counts for each, what that means for a seller, and a link to every Ram page on this site.

Ram in the federal fuel economy list

The EPA's list carries Ram as its own make from model year 2009 through 2027. It has six models, in two families:

  • Pickups: the 1500, 2500 and 3500. All three start in 2009. The 1500 runs to 2027 in the list; the 2500 and 3500 run to 2026.
  • Vans: the ProMaster (2014-2026), the smaller ProMaster City (2015-2022) and the C/V (2012-2015).

Which Ram models draw the most complaints

Our tally covers each Ram model over the years the EPA lists it, pulled from NHTSA's owner complaint database on October 10, 2026. All six models together come to 20,291 complaints.

ModelYears in the EPA listNHTSA complaints
15002009-202711,786
25002009-20265,134

ProMaster2014-2026700
ProMaster City2015-2022100
C/V2012-201512

Two cautions before reading much into it. Each row counts what Ram owners told NHTSA; none of it is a verdict on the trucks, and a model sold in large numbers will pile up more entries. And the 1500 spans nineteen model years in the list, the longest run here. A Ram built in the last year or two has had little time on the road for its owners to write in, at any size.

What stands out is the gap. The 1500 alone carries 11,786 of the 20,291 complaints. The three pickups together far outweigh the three vans. The C/V, sold for four model years, has 12.

Selling a whole Ram pickup or van

A Ram that quits is usually big. A 3500 or a high-roof ProMaster will not fit in a small tow lot's spare corner, and it may be parked where it died: a job site, a long driveway, a back lot. Tell us where it is, and the truck comes to it.

You don't strip anything first. A van can go with its shelving, ladder racks and bins still bolted in. A pickup can keep its cap, its toolbox or its hitch. Take out your own tools, papers and the garage remote; everything else goes with the truck.

  1. Have the model, year and mileage ready. For a pickup, say whether it is a 1500, 2500 or 3500.
  2. Say if your Ram cranks, if its wheels spin freely, and what's broken or missing.
  3. Check for the title. A Ram without one can still sell; selling a junk car with no title explains the state-by-state fix.
  4. Say where it sits, and whether anything blocks a truck from reaching it.

If you are weighing a big repair bill first, our junk truck guide covers what changes with a heavy vehicle. After the sale, handle the plates and the paperwork.

All six Ram nameplates from the EPA list have a page here. Years are model years. A 2026 end date can just mean the 2027 figures have not been posted yet.

Questions people ask

Will you take a Ram 3500 or a ProMaster that won't start?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and heavy pickups and work vans are part of that. You sell the whole car as it sits, dead battery and all, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
Does a high complaint count mean my Ram 1500 is a bad truck?
Not on its own. Each of those 11,786 entries is one 1500 owner telling NHTSA about a problem; nobody has ruled on it. The 1500 appears in every model year from 2009 to 2027, more than any other Ram, which gives it more trucks and more years for owners to write in. A 2025 or 2026 truck has had only a year or two to gather reports, so its tally is still young.
Do I have to empty the shelving out of my work van first?
No. Shelves, racks and bins can stay; the van goes whole. Take out your own tools and papers, because they leave with the van.
Is the Ram C/V on this site?
Yes. It has its own page. The EPA list shows it only for model years 2012 to 2015, and NHTSA holds 12 complaints for it, the fewest of any Ram.
