Selling a wrecked or broken Buick Envista
Both of the Envista's recalls are about screens going blank. One covers the instrument panel display, the other the rearview camera. The complaints point the same way: 36 of the 95 that owners have filed with NHTSA name the electrical system, far more than any other part.

The Envista in brief
Wikipedia calls it a subcompact crossover. It rides on the VSS-F platform as a sibling of the second-generation Chevrolet Trax, and Wikipedia lists it as the Encore's successor in North America. The engine listed for it is a 1.2 L LIH turbocharged three-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic; a 1.5 L turbo and a CVT are listed for China only. Wikipedia names two plants: Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, in South Korea, and Shenyang in China. The EPA lists the Envista from 2024 to 2026.
Screens and the electrical system
We counted NHTSA's complaints on October 10, 2026. The Envista is young, so owners have had little time to file anything, and these counts are early.
- 23V744 (2024): software in the Virtual Cockpit Unit Module can make the instrument panel display go blank at times. A dealer visit or a wireless download updates it. This campaign totals 60,154 vehicles, including the Encore GX and Trax.
- 26V539 (2024-2025): the backup camera can show a warped or blank picture. Dealers check it and swap the camera where needed. The campaign counts 306,511 vehicles, including the Encore GX, Trailblazer and Trax.
After the electrical system, owners most often named "unknown or other" (14), the engine (10) and the service brakes (8). Across all years, 3 complaints report a fire and 4 say the car was towed.
| Model year | Complaints | Report a fire | Recall campaigns | Top component |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 57 | 2 | 2 | Electrical system (23) |
| 2025 | 33 | 1 | 1 | Electrical system (12) |
| 2026 | 5 | 0 | 0 | Steering, brakes, electrical (1 each) |
Fix it or sell it?
On a car this new, repair is often the better deal, unless the insurer has already totaled it or the damage is structural.
- Run the VIN at NHTSA's recall page. Both recall fixes are free, so get them done before you judge a screen problem.
- Insurer totaled it? Insurer totaled it explains keeping the car or taking the check.
- Still financed? Read still owe on the loan first. The lender's payoff decides a lot.
Selling it whole
Give us the year, the miles and the story of what happened. Can it roll? Do the front wheels turn? Is your Envista sitting at home, in a tow lot or at a body shop? Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008. Sell the whole car as it sits, and mention any parts already removed.
The Encore is the model it replaced, and the Enclave is Buick's bigger SUV. See every Buick we cover.
Questions people ask
- What are the most common Envista complaints?
- The electrical system: 36 of the 95 complaints on file with NHTSA at our October 10, 2026 count. The model only dates to 2024, so owners have had just a couple of years to report anything.
- Is my Envista's camera recall the same one as the Encore GX?
- Yes. Recall 26V539 covers 2024-2025 Envistas plus the Encore GX, Trailblazer and Trax. Its 306,511 vehicles cover all of those models, not just the Envista.
- Will you buy an Envista that's wrecked and still has a loan?
- We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. If a lender holds the title, the loan has to be settled as part of the sale. Our loan guide explains how that usually works.
