Selling a junk or non-running Buick Terraza
The Terraza's first year accounts for most of its NHTSA file. Owners filed 207 complaints about the van, and 120 of them are on the 2005. After that the count drops each year: 54 for the 2006, then 33 for the 2007.

Wikipedia dates production from June 2004 to June 2007 at Doraville Assembly in Georgia. So even the newest Terraza is close to 20 years old. If yours is done, we buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
What the Terraza is
It's Buick's minivan on GM's U platform, related to the Buick GL8, and it came in front-drive and all-wheel-drive form. Wikipedia lists a 3.5 L LX9 V6 at launch. For 2006, a 3.9 L V6 with 240 horsepower became available, and the 3.5 was dropped a year later. Both ran through a 4-speed automatic. The EPA lists the van as a flex-fuel model from 2005 to 2008.
On safety, Wikipedia notes that a 2007 Terraza with side air bags scored "good" in the IIHS frontal offset test and "acceptable" in the side test.
Known problems by year
Below, a complaint means one owner's report to NHTSA, with the file read on October 10, 2026; it doesn't rate the van. Each recall total spans its full campaign, which may include other models.
2005: electrical, stability control and latches
The first year's 120 complaints are led by the electrical system (23). Electronic stability control comes next (12), then latches, locks and linkages (10). Across all years, those three areas total 31, 20 and 20 complaints.
The 2005 has two recalls. Under 05V287, the parking brake may not meet federal standard 135, which says the vehicle must not move for five minutes when stopped. Dealers were to check the lever at each rear caliper and replace calipers that slip. That campaign counts 14,600 vehicles, a whole-campaign total that may include other models; NHTSA's text describes them as sport utility vehicles.
2006-2007: the body takes over
On the 2006, structure moves to the top with 10 of 54 complaints, ahead of stability control (8) and latches (5). The 2006 also has 7 complaints that report an injury, the most of any year. The 2007 follows the same pattern: structure 8, latches 5, electrical 4.
The 2006's own recall, 05V552, is about tire and loading labels that didn't meet the federal standard. Owners got corrected labels to put on.
Conversion vans: two recalls from outside GM
The other two campaigns don't come from GM. They matter only if your Terraza was converted for wheelchair access:
- 10V110 (2005-2008): The Braun Corporation reported a problem with the trailing arm on certain GM low-floor mobility conversion minivans. Dealers were to inspect them and fit retrofit parts. The campaign counts 5,375 vehicles.
- 10V271 (2007): All In One Mobility recalled conversion vans from 1997 to 2008 with VMI/Ricon 6-way power seat bases for a possibly bad weld. The campaign counts 13 vehicles.
Complaints and recalls by model year
| Model year | Complaints | Report a crash | Report an injury | Recall campaigns | Top three components |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2005 | 120 | 5 | 4 | 2 | Electrical 23, stability control 12, latches 10 |
| 2006 | 54 | 4 | 7 | 2 | Structure 10, stability control 8, latches 5 |
| 2007 | 33 | 0 | 0 | 2 | Structure 8, latches 5, electrical 4 |
NHTSA's complaint file lists no 2008 Terraza, though the EPA does, and recall 10V110 covers it. Across the file, 1 complaint reports a fire and 3 say the van was towed. Recall 10V110 covers all three years in the table, so it counts in every row.
Fix it or sell it?
A Terraza that needs a big repair is often worth more sold as it sits. Compare the quote with what a running Terraza of that year sells for.
- Converted van? Look up its recalls first with NHTSA's VIN search.
- Doors, locks or warning lights acting up? See electrical problems for what to rule out first.
- Won't start at all? Car doesn't run covers your options.
Selling the van whole
- Have the year, mileage, and whether it's AWD or FWD.
- Say if it's a wheelchair conversion, and whether the ramp or lift still works.
- Tell us whether the van rolls and whether it sits in a driveway, a garage or a lot. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
- Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
- Sell the whole car as it sits, with the seats and wheels in place. If seats or parts are already out, say which.

Questions people ask
- Which Terraza year has the most NHTSA complaints?
- The 2005, its first model year, with 120 of 207 complaints when NHTSA's file was read on October 10, 2026. The electrical system leads with 23, then electronic stability control with 12 and latches, locks and linkages with 10.
- Do the wheelchair van recalls apply to my Terraza?
- Only if it was converted. Recall 10V110 came from The Braun Corporation for 2005-2008 GM low-floor mobility conversions, and 10V271 from All In One Mobility for vans with VMI/Ricon power seat bases. A standard Terraza isn't part of either.
- Will you buy a Terraza with a dead engine or broken doors?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Tell us what works, whether it rolls, and where it's parked.
