Selling a junk car in Kingsland
In Kingsland, a car that stays put on a city street for three days becomes a police matter. Under Section 19-3 of the city code, a vehicle parked "continuously in the same location on any street in the city for the period of 72 hours or more shall be presumed to be abandoned and may be impounded by the police department." A dead car has no way to move before time runs out. We buy whole non-running and junk cars. You sell the whole car as it sits, and pickup is free anywhere in the US, Kingsland included.

The 72-hour curb rule
The rule covers "any street in the city." It does not ask whether the car runs, has a tag or looks wrecked. Sitting in one spot for 72 hours is enough for the presumption. A car that died at the curb on a Friday evening can reach that mark by Monday.
Kingsland's chapter on wreckers has a section numbered 23-117, titled "Release of impounded vehicles." Its text was not in the material we checked, so ask Kingsland police how to get a towed car back before you go to the lot. Our towed or impounded car guide covers the general steps.
In the yard or driveway
We did not find a Kingsland section on junk cars kept on private land. Georgia law gives a definition instead. Thirty days or more sitting unattended on private land makes a car an "abandoned motor vehicle" under the state's wording. On public land the mark is five days, if it looks like nobody plans to come back for it. Kingsland may add rules we did not see, so ask City Hall before you lean on the 30-day figure.
If the car broke down and went to a shop around Kingsland, there is one more state clock. Georgia also treats a car as "abandoned" when nobody claims it from a garage, dealer or wrecker for 30 days.
When a wrecker has it
Georgia sets the pace once a car is hauled off. Within 15 calendar days of the tow, the storage company must notify every owner by certified letter or face to face. Its notice has to warn that ten calendar days later it can ask a judge to foreclose on its lien, and a judge can order the car sold.
Camden County title and tag work
Titles in Georgia belong to the Department of Revenue, yet the paperwork happens at a county tag office. For Camden County we looked at the office at 200 E 4th Street in Woodbine (912-576-3248). From downtown Kingsland, it lies roughly 9 miles to the northeast on a map. Camden may run other locations too.
A Georgia sale has two halves: hand over a signed title, and shut off the registration.
- Flip the title over. Under Seller, print your name, then sign; every co-owner on the title repeats that.
- Mileage goes in as whole miles. Leave the ink clean, since a scratched-out or erased title can be voided.
- Unscrew the tag and keep it. Georgia tags never pass to the buyer.
- End the registration with Form MV-18J or on the DRIVES e-Services site, and only then call the insurer.
Title gone missing? Form MV-1 and $8.00 buy a new one at the Woodbine counter. Georgia does not require a title for 1985 and earlier models, so for those a bill of sale carries the deal. See junk car with no title and after you sell.

Questions people ask
- How many days can a car that won't run stay on a Kingsland street?
- Under Section 19-3, 72 hours without moving from one spot on a Kingsland street is enough for police to presume the car abandoned and impound it. Whether the car runs does not matter.
- Does Kingsland have a rule for junk cars in a yard?
- We did not find one in the city code sections we checked. Georgia calls a Kingsland car abandoned after 30 days or more untouched on private property. Kingsland could still have rules we missed, so check with City Hall first.
- Where can I get a new title in Camden County if mine is lost?
- File Form MV-1 and pay $8.00 for a new Georgia title. For Camden County, the office we looked at sits at 200 E 4th Street in Woodbine; its number is 912-576-3248.
- Should I leave the tag on a Kingsland car I sell?
- No. Georgia tags belong to the seller, not the buyer. Take it off, then end the registration with Form MV-18J or on the state's DRIVES e-Services site, and drop the insurance only after that.
