Junk cars in Peachtree Corners: the rules and selling
In Peachtree Corners, a car that runs can still be a junk vehicle. Section 10-306 defines the term to include any vehicle "kept parked, stored or maintained on any premises or public right-of-way without a current license plate and/or decal displayed on the vehicle." Section 10-340 then says junk vehicles "shall not be kept, permitted, parked, stored or maintained on any premises or public right-of-way." An expired tag alone can put a car on the wrong side of that.

The three ways a junk vehicle may stay
Section 10-340 allows only these:
- stored in a fully enclosed building in a Peachtree Corners residential district when the owner or occupant is "in the process of reconditioning the junk vehicle for personal use"
- on property zoned for repair work, if the car is not "stored for the purpose of salvage of parts" but is in the continual process of repair
- on property zoned for a junk or salvage yard
A car under a cover in the driveway fits none of them. Section 42-9 goes further, banning in residential or business areas an accumulation of "any inoperable, discarded, dismantled, wrecked, scrapped, ruined or abandoned equipment or parts thereof." A stack of pulled fenders counts.
Street clocks: one hour and 24 hours
In Peachtree Corners, Section 60-43 forbids parking "upon any residential cul-de-sac for a period longer than one hour at any time during the day or night." Double parking beside a curbed car, or within 50 feet of one, is banned too. Then the backstop: "Any vehicle parked in violation of this section and that remains in violation for a period of 24 hours or more shall be subject to immobilization or towing and impoundment."
If the city tows it
Section 60-47 says a towed car "shall be released only upon payment in full of all towing and impoundment or immobilization fees." You can still contest the tow. File a hearing request at the municipal court clerk's office, or by certified mail, "no later than 30 days following the release." The hearing happens 10 to 60 days after notice, and the hearing officer can order reimbursement if the tow was not authorized.
The pickup truck and the zoning code
Section 1007 bans tow trucks and transport wreckers from parking in residential districts. It does allow "A commercial vehicle that is parked temporarily either on a street or on private property in conjunction with a commercial service, sale, or delivery." Overnight parking of one is still prohibited on any residential street.
The Gwinnett tag office
We looked at a Gwinnett tag office at 750 South Perry Street in Lawrenceville, 770-822-8818. That is roughly 14 miles east of central Peachtree Corners as the crow flies, and Gwinnett may run more branches.
A Peachtree Corners seller prints a name and signs it in the Seller space on the title's back. Every co-owner does the same. Mileage is written as whole miles, and any erasure risks voiding the document.
Why the plate matters twice here
Georgia plates stay with the seller. In Peachtree Corners that has a side effect: once you take the plate off, the car has no current plate on display, which is part of the city's junk-vehicle definition. Plan for the car to leave soon after. After that, the registration gets cancelled, on DRIVES e-Services or by MV-18J at a Gwinnett County tag office, and the insurance comes last. After you sell has the checklist, and Georgia the state rules.

- The city towed my car. Can I contest it?
- Under Section 60-47 the car is released only after the towing and impoundment fees are paid in full.
