Selling a broken or junk Lincoln Corsair
The rearview camera is the Corsair's recurring trouble spot. Of the 18 recall campaigns detailed on this page, 10 are filed under back-over prevention: the camera itself, its wiring, or the software that puts the picture on the screen. Owners have also filed 27 complaints with NHTSA in that same category.

What owners report, by model-year group
According to Wikipedia, the Corsair replaced the MKC for 2020 and shares the Ford C2 platform with the Escape and Bronco Sport. Engines are a 2.0 L or 2.3 L EcoBoost turbo four, plus a plug-in hybrid on the Grand Touring with a 14.4 kWh battery and an eCVT. Gas versions use an 8-speed automatic. US production at Louisville Assembly ran from August 2019 to December 2025, when the plant stopped building it to make room for an electric pickup due in 2027.
NHTSA's complaint file held 218 Corsair complaints on October 10, 2026, the date behind every count below. The electrical system is named most often (58).
2020-2022: the camera and screen years
The 2020 has the most complaints of any Corsair year, 61, and back-over prevention leads them with 14. The camera recalls stack up on these three years:
- 20V575 (2020): dealers replace the rearview camera. That campaign takes in 620,246 vehicles across F-Series trucks, the Explorer, Escape and more, so the number isn't the Corsair's alone.
- 21V735 (2020-2021), 23V022 and 23V342 (2020-2022), all on cars with the 360-degree camera: the video output can fail and leave no rearview image. The fixes were software updates and then a new camera. 25V159 came back to Corsairs that had been repaired incorrectly under 23V-342.
- 25V048: the rearview image can be blank or distorted.
- 25V510: water can get into the rearview camera connectors. This is the one campaign here that names only the Corsair, 41,875 vehicles from 2020-2022. Owner letters went out May 1, 2026.
- 26V123: the center display image can flip or invert. Owner letters were mailed June 23, 2026.
Other 2020-2022 recalls aren't about the camera. Under 25V685, owners are told not to plug in the engine block heater until a dealer replaces it. 26V117 covers a wiper motor that may fail, and 22V953 covers the seat belt warning on cars with Revel audio.
The 2.5L hybrid engine notices (2021-2023)
Two campaigns, 22V484 (2021-2022) and 23V380 (2021-2023), cover Corsairs with the 2.5L HEV or PHEV engine. NHTSA's summary deals with what happens when that engine fails: engine oil and fuel vapor are involved. Owners were told to park and shut the engine off as quickly as possible if they hear unexpected engine noises or the car loses power. Both campaigns also cover Escapes and Mavericks.
2023-2026: fewer complaints so far
The 2023 has 23 complaints and the 2024 has 25. The 2024 includes 3 that report a crash and 3 filed under air bags. Recall 25V315 updates the APIM software on 2023-2024 cars; it's a 1,076,138-vehicle campaign covering many Ford models. On the 2025, 26V122 replaces an EGR valve that may fail, and 25V730 checks 2025-2026 windshields for air bubbles that can block the driver's view. The 2025 has just 8 complaints and the 2026 has none on file. Corsairs that new haven't been driven many months, so few owners have reported.
Complaints and recalls by model year
For each Corsair year, "Recalls" includes every NHTSA campaign naming it, and a single campaign may span several years.
| Model year | Complaints | Crashes reported | Injuries reported | Recall campaigns | Components named most |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 61 | 3 | 2 | 16 | Back-over prevention 14, electrical 11 |
| 2021 | 43 | 1 | 3 | 23 | Unknown or other 11, electrical 9, engine 5 |
| 2022 | 58 | 2 | 4 | 20 | Electrical 15, engine 8, back-over prevention 8 |
| 2023 | 23 | 0 | 0 | 10 | Electrical 9, forward collision avoidance 3 |
| 2024 | 25 | 3 | 2 | 6 | Electrical 10, air bags 3 |
| 2025 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 7 | Electrical 4, unknown or other 2 |
Repair it or let it go?
Start with the recalls. Check the Corsair's VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup, then ask a Lincoln dealer about open items. For the two hybrid engine campaigns, NHTSA's summary gives only the advice to park and shut the engine off, so ask the dealer what remedy applies. A camera that shows a blank screen may only need a recall fix.
The harder cases are an engine that quit on a plug-in Grand Touring, or electrical faults that keep coming back after the recalls are done. Put the dealer's written estimate next to asking prices for running Corsairs like yours. When those two numbers sit close together, the blown engine and electrical problems guides walk through the choice.
Selling the Corsair as it sits
- Note the Corsair's VIN and mileage. Say if it's gas or plug-in, and what it will and won't do.
- Ask for an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Say where the Corsair is now, whether that's your driveway or a dealer's service bay. Our truck comes to it, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
- Sell the whole car as it sits. Leave the wheels, the battery pack and the screens in place, and mention anything already removed.
- Have the Corsair's title and your ID ready when we come. Still making payments? See still owe on the loan. Plates and insurance afterward depend on your state: after you sell.

Questions people ask
- Which Corsair model year has the most NHTSA complaints?
- It's the 2020: 61 complaints on file by October 10, 2026, with the 2022 close behind at 58. The 2025 Corsair is still new, so its 8 complaints don't prove much yet.
- Are the rearview camera recalls only for the Corsair?
- Mostly not. Several campaigns also cover the Explorer, Aviator, Escape and Ford trucks, so their vehicle counts are not Corsair counts. Recall 25V510, for water getting into the rearview camera connectors, names only 2020-2022 Corsairs. Enter the Corsair's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to find any recall still open on it.
- The engine on my plug-in Corsair quit. Is there a recall?
- Two campaigns cover Corsairs with the 2.5L hybrid or plug-in engine: 22V484 (2021-2022) and 23V380 (2021-2023). Both deal with what happens when that engine fails. Owners were told to park and shut the engine off as soon as they can if they hear unexpected engine noises or the car loses power. Ask a Lincoln dealer what applies to your VIN before you decide anything.
- Will you take a Corsair that won't start or has a dead screen?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Mention the warning lights or symptoms, and whether the Corsair can roll onto a truck.
