Selling a junk or non-running Mitsubishi Raider

Air bags draw more NHTSA complaints on the Raider than every other category combined: 56 of 99 in NHTSA's October 10, 2026 tally. Two of its five recalls are about frontal air bag inflators on 2006-2009 trucks, and both tell owners not to drive until the repair is done.

If your Raider is parked for good, you don't need to drive it anywhere. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

A Mitsubishi built by Chrysler

Wikipedia lists DaimlerChrysler, then Chrysler, as the maker, with production from fall 2005 to June 11, 2009 in Warren, Michigan, and Normal, Illinois. It shares the Dodge Dakota's platform, with a 3.7-liter V6 or 4.7-liter V8 and a 4-speed automatic. EPA lists it as a flex-fuel pickup in 2WD and 4WD. It filled the gap left when the Mighty Max ended in 1996.

Recalls and what owners reported

The two air bag recalls carry very large counts because they cover Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM models too:

  • 15V313000 (2006-2009): driver frontal air bag inflator. Do not drive. Campaign: 4,077,169 vehicles.
  • 16V352000 (2006-2009): passenger frontal air bag inflator. Do not drive. Campaign: 4,648,270 vehicles.

The 2006 has three more, each shared with Dodge trucks:

  • 06V039000: a static spark from the driver can make the turn signals, headlamps or wipers malfunction. Dealers re-flash the instrument cluster. Campaign: 79,701 vehicles.
  • 06V038000: on trucks with four-wheel ABS, the control unit can upset brake balance so the rear brakes lock early. Campaign: 39,274 vehicles.
  • 14V795000: manual-transmission trucks get a new clutch ignition interlock switch. Campaign: 54,164 vehicles.

Complaints and recalls by model year

Raider complaint counts as NHTSA listed them on October 10, 2026. Later trucks had less time on the road to gather complaints.

Repair, or sell it whole?

Run the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup first. If an air bag recall is open, the repair is a dealer job and the truck should not be driven there; open recall explains your options. If the engine or frame is the real problem, junk truck or SUV covers when to stop fixing a pickup.

Selling the Raider? Keep its VIN, mileage, cab style and trouble handy, then request an offer online or call (877) 421-6008. Say where the Raider sits, if its wheels turn, and if it has 4WD. Leave it complete; anything already removed changes the offer. The driver takes the title and keys when the Raider is loaded; check after you sell for plates and insurance.

Questions people ask

Is my Raider under a do-not-drive recall?
Recall 15V313000 (driver frontal air bag inflator) and recall 16V352000 (passenger frontal air bag inflator) each name 2006-2009 Raiders and say to park the truck until it's fixed. Type your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Can you pick up a Raider I shouldn't drive?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. The Raider leaves on our truck; nobody drives it.
Which Raider year has the most NHTSA complaints?
The 2006: 55 complaints by NHTSA's October 10, 2026 count, 29 about air bags. The 2008 and 2009 Raider were the last built, and that shorter run is one reason their numbers stay low.
