Selling a Nissan Axxess

The Axxess was Nissan's small Japan-built van of the early 1990s, sold here before the Quest took its place. If yours has stopped running, or you're done keeping it going, there's no need to fix it first. We buy whole non-running and junk cars. Sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

What the Axxess was

Axxess is the North American name for the second-generation Nissan Prairie, model code M11. Nissan introduced it in September 1988, and Nissan Shatai built it in Hiratsuka, Japan. Concerns that the first Prairie's body was too weak led Nissan to move the second one from the Sunny platform to the larger Bluebird.

North American vans came only with the 2.4-liter KA24E four, the same engine the 1990-1992 Stanza used, and with a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual. US vans had motorized automatic seat belts; Canadian ones had ordinary manual belts. The earlier Prairie had been sold in the US too, under the name Stanza Wagon. Wikipedia lists the second Prairie as related to the U12 Bluebird and the Stanza, and the 1990-1992 US Stanza was itself a plain U12 Bluebird with Stanza badges, so the two share more than an engine.

How long the Axxess was sold here is not settled. Wikipedia says the US got only the 1990 model year, while Canada kept it through 1995. The EPA's fuel economy list has Axxess entries for 1990, 1991 and 1992, including an all-wheel-drive version. For 1990 it rates the automatic at 19 mpg combined, the manual at 21 (19 city, 24 highway) and the all-wheel-drive van at 18.

What NHTSA has on file

Seven complaints in all, every one on the 1990, as of NHTSA's files on October 10, 2026. The power train is named in two; seat belts, the body structure, the engine and the fuel system in one each. NHTSA's recall files list no campaigns under the Axxess name.

Is it worth repairing?

We have no repair figures for the Axxess. Before paying for a big job, ask for a written estimate and weigh it against the van's value once running.

A van this old may be missing seats, trim or wheels. That doesn't stop a sale, but say so up front; selling a car that's missing parts explains how it affects an offer.

Selling an Axxess

Ask for an offer online or call (877) 421-6008. Give the year, whether it's the all-wheel-drive version, the mileage if you know it, what's wrong and where it's parked. If the title has gone missing over the years, see selling a junk car without a title before you set a pickup date.

Questions people ask

Which years was the Axxess sold in the US?
Sources disagree. Wikipedia says the US had it for the 1990 model year only, while Canada had it from 1990 to 1995. The EPA's fuel economy list includes 1990, 1991 and 1992 Axxess entries. Your title and VIN will show which year you have.
Does the Axxess have any open recalls?
NHTSA's recall files list no campaigns under the Axxess name. If you want to be sure, a Nissan dealer can run the van's VIN.
Will you buy an Axxess that hasn't run in years?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Let us know how many years it has stood still and if it rolls.
