Dead and junk cars in Holly Springs
In Holly Springs, a car parked on the street for more than two days is breaking the code. Section 12-461 says street parking "is limited to a period of not more than 48 hours in any one location." It also says outdoor storage past 48 hours "is not 'parking'" at all. A car that has stopped running tends to cross that line without anyone noticing. We buy whole non-running and junk cars. You sell the whole car as it sits, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.

When the town calls a car abandoned
Section 6-201 gives two clocks. One runs on town property: "longer than 24 hours without the consent of the town." The other runs on the road: "longer than seven days without valid registration or license plate."
The same section defines a nuisance vehicle as a junked car that officials declare a health or safety hazard, a public nuisance or unlawful. That includes one found "so offensive to the sight as to damage the community" by planning and development staff.
Town lots have their own rule. Section 12-514 bars parking at a town facility except to visit or do business there during a town event, or to charge at an EV space.
How long the town holds a towed car
Section 6-207 sets two holding periods:
- 30 days for an abandoned or nuisance car. To get a Holly Springs car back, prove it's yours and cover what the tow and storage cost.
- 15 days for an unclaimed junked car. You can claim it in that window with proof of ownership, after paying "all reasonable costs incident to the removal and storage of the vehicle plus administrative expenses."
After 15 days, a junked car "may be destroyed or sold at private sales as junk," and the town notifies the DMV within 15 days of disposing of it. With the owner's consent, the town can dispose of a car without holding it at all.
Title work from Holly Springs
There is no county title desk in North Carolina; NCDMV issues every title. The NCDMV office at 4121 New Bern Ave. in Raleigh is about 18 miles northeast of Holly Springs on a map. Plate agencies and the mail work too.
Both of you complete the back of the title: who you are, where you live, the date, and the miles if they are required. Your own signature goes on in front of a notary. North Carolina also requires you to tell the buyer about known damage on Form MVR-181, which matters for a car that is not running because of a wreck.
Inspection and plates
Holly Springs is in Wake County, one of the 19 counties where cars must pass an emissions test as well as the yearly safety inspection.
The plate is yours, not the buyer's. If no other car will carry your Holly Springs plate, send it back to NCDMV and keep the policy on until it gets there. If NCDMV still shows the car on your registration afterward, file Form MVR-46F, a notarized affidavit asking to have it removed. See after you sell.
Getting an offer
Phone (877) 421-6008 or use the form. Name the car, give the odometer number, say if the engine catches, and share what the title shows. In Holly Springs we can collect it from a driveway or garage, or from a curb spot close to its 48 hours. Fuquay-Varina and Apex are each about five miles away; the North Carolina page has the state rules.
