Selling a junk or dead car in Redmond
A big repair quote on a Redmond car can mean Washington already treats it as salvage, and there is no percentage to check it against. RCW 46.04.514 makes a car salvage when parts and labor, plus what the wreck is worth as salvage, mean a repair makes no money sense. The statute names no fixed share of the car's value. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, branded titles included. You sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

Three roads to salvage, and the brands that stay
Damage is one road. The other two: a title turned in to DOL after the car was destroyed or written off, or papers showing someone declared it salvage. Fix such a car and put it back on the road, and its title says "Rebuilt."
WAC 308-56A-530 lists DOL's other brands: "Odometer not actual," "Former taxicab," "Former exempt," "Contaminated," "Returned to manufacturer," "Former for hire" and "Repaired - Wrecker/insurance bill of sale." They follow a Redmond car forever, because brands "stay on the record indefinitely." Washington has no flood brand of its own, but one from another state carries over word for word. More in salvage title.
Junk cars, by state law
Redmond's municipal code wasn't something we could find online, so this section relies on Washington law, and the city might layer rules of its own over it. RCW 46.55.010 calls a car a "junk vehicle" once it's certified on three or more counts out of four. Plainly put: it's "three years old or older," it's badly damaged (smashed glass, say, or a missing engine or transmission), it seems unable to run, and it's worth scrap and nothing more.
Certification falls to whoever RCW 46.55.230 authorizes, police or the health department among them. They look the car over and can approve disposing of an abandoned one.
When the estimate is the real problem, read repairs cost more than it is worth.
Seattle counter, report, plates
From Redmond, the King County title counter we found is in Seattle at No. 201 South Jackson Street, Suite 206; call (206) 477-4000. It is near 11 miles southwest of downtown Redmond in a straight line.
In Redmond the buyer handles the notary part, signing the title application in front of a notary or at a licensing office. Your part is signing the title and the bill of sale. A Redmond seller has 5 days to send DOL the Vehicle Report of Sale. DOL says that protects you from the buyer's tow bills and liability. The plates come home with you, ready for a future vehicle of that type or to be returned.

Getting an offer
The form or (877) 421-6008 works. Use the form or call (877) 421-6008 for a Redmond offer, and mention any title brand. The pickup truck comes out to the car, downtown garage or suburban driveway alike.
Questions people ask
- Is there a damage percentage that makes a Washington car salvage?
- No. RCW 46.04.514 names none. Salvage status comes from a title surrendered after destruction or total loss, paperwork declaring it salvage, or repair costs plus salvage value that make fixing it uneconomical.
- Can a Rebuilt brand be removed later?
- No. WAC 308-56A-530 keeps brands on the record indefinitely and carries other states' brands forward.
- Are there Redmond-specific junk-car rules?
- Our search did not find Redmond's code online. We rely on state law here; the city could have more.
