Selling a dead or junk Dodge Conquest
The Dodge Conquest was built by Mitsubishi Motors in Okazaki, Japan, and sold by Dodge for 1984 to 1986. NHTSA's complaint file holds exactly one owner complaint for it, filed on a 1984 and naming the fuel system. That is too little to point at any pattern. Don't read it as proof the car has no weak spots; it only means few owners ever filed.

What Wikipedia lists for the car
Wikipedia calls the Conquest a sports car with a front-engine, rear-drive layout, produced from 1982 to 1989. It lists three engines: a 2.0 L G63B four, a turbocharged 2.0 L G63B, and a turbocharged 2.6 L G54B. Its transmission choices, per Wikipedia, were a stick with 5 speeds or an automatic with 4. Its listed successors are the Mitsubishi GTO and the Dodge Stealth. The EPA data has the Dodge version only from 1984 to 1986.
The one recall
Campaign 95V103003 includes the 1986. Each front buckle has a red plastic PRESS button that can snap, and the pieces can fall into the buckle and keep it from working. The campaign counted 920,000 vehicles in all, so most of them were other models.
Complaints and recalls by model year
Per NHTSA's complaint data on October 10, 2026. The 1986 cars had a little less time than the 1984s for owners to file.
| Year | Complaints | What was named | Recall campaigns |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1984 | 1 | Fuel system | 0 |
| 1985 | 0 | none on file | 0 |
| 1986 | 0 | none on file | 1 |
Fix it or sell it?
Check your VIN on nhtsa.gov/recalls. If the turbo is smoking or dead, our failed turbo guide covers how to weigh the repair. If you started a restoration and stopped, read old project car.
