What the Ocean is (Wikipedia)
Battery electric mid-size crossover SUV

Fisker is a short story in the federal data. The EPA's fuel economy list holds just two Fisker models, the 2012 Karma and the 2023-2024 Ocean, and nothing after the 2024 model year.

Two cars, twelve years apart

Karma. It appears in the EPA list for one model year, 2012. Wikipedia names its manufacturer as Fisker Automotive (Fisker Karma).

Ocean. Wikipedia describes it as a "battery electric mid-size crossover SUV" (Fisker Ocean). The EPA list carries it for the 2023 and 2024 model years.

Neither car had a long run. One model year for the Karma and two for the Ocean is all the EPA list shows, which means there are far fewer of either on the road than of a mainstream nameplate.

Where the 890 complaints sit

On October 10, 2026, NHTSA's public database held 890 complaints that owners filed about Fisker vehicles. They are not spread evenly.

The Ocean accounts for all but six. Read that with two cautions. Every Fisker entry is one owner's own report to the agency. NHTSA hasn't judged any of them, and the count isn't a rating. And the Ocean's model years are recent, which leaves it fewer years of filings behind it than an older car; its total may still rise. The model pages break the counts down further: see the Ocean and the Karma.

When the Fisker in your driveway is done

The Ocean is a battery electric SUV, so a car that won't wake up or charge is the case most owners will face. Replacing a high-voltage battery on an out-of-production car is a hard call, and our EV battery guide walks through it. If the car simply won't start or move and you aren't sure why, start with selling a car that doesn't run.

Keep the Fisker's battery pack, wheels and trim on the car. Tell us:

  1. Karma or Ocean, plus the year and the mileage.
  2. Does the Fisker's screen come on, can it be pushed, and is anything broken or missing?
  3. Who is named on the title, and where that paper is now.
  4. Where it sits: a garage, a parking lot or the service bay where it stopped.

The truck meets the car there, and the whole Fisker leaves on it.

Questions people ask

Do you buy a Fisker Ocean that won't power on?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and an Ocean that stays dark is one. Sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
Why does the Ocean have so many more complaints than the Karma?
The count does not explain itself. The two cars come from different model years, and how many were sold also drives how many complaints get filed. Owners sent NHTSA 884 about the Ocean and 6 about the Karma by our October 10, 2026 count, and neither figure rates either car.
Are newer Fiskers likely to collect more complaints?
They can. A 2023 or 2024 Ocean has been driven for far fewer years than a 2012 Karma, and owners keep filing as cars age, so the Ocean totals may still grow.
Who built the Karma?
Wikipedia lists the Karma's manufacturer as Fisker Automotive.
