Selling a damaged or non-running Jeep Gladiator
In a recall filed June 4, 2026, Chrysler (FCA US) told owners of 2021-2025 Jeep Gladiators to park outside and away from buildings. Recall 26V363 says the wiring for the electric hydraulic power steering pump can overheat and cause a fire. Steering is also the part owners name most in Gladiator complaints to NHTSA: 271 of 993.

That campaign counts 1,076,999 vehicles, but it covers the Wrangler and Wrangler 4xe too, so it is not a count of Gladiators.
A Gladiator that burned, quit or got wrecked doesn't need fixing before you sell it. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
Gladiator problems, grouped by model year
EPA lists the Gladiator as a standard pickup truck for 2020 through 2027, with regular and EcoDiesel four-wheel-drive versions. No model history was gathered for this page, so the years below are grouped by the complaint counts.
2020-2022: 895 of the 993 complaints
The first-year 2020 has 483 complaints: 173 name the electrical system and 155 the steering. On the 2021, steering leads with 77, then power train with 57. The 2022 drops to 120 complaints, but 13 of them report a fire, more than any other Gladiator year.
Four recalls concern the manual transmission's clutch. Recalls 20V124 and 21V028 address a clutch pressure plate that can overheat and fracture. The first reroutes a wire harness and inspects the clutch. The second adds software that cuts engine torque when the clutch gets hot. Recall 23V116 then replaces the clutch assembly on 2020-2023 Gladiators. Recall 24V572 updates software on 94 Wranglers and Gladiators from 2021 that were fixed under 23V-116, because it could stall the engine.
The 3.0-liter diesel has two recalls of its own. Recalls 22V767 (2021-2022) and 23V263 (2021-2023) replace the high-pressure fuel pump, which may fail; 22V767 says that can stall the engine. Their counts, 60,413 and 45,832, include Wranglers and Ram 1500s.
Other early recalls: 19V636 replaced rear driveshafts built without grease in a joint on 3,733 2020 Gladiators, and 24V652 replaces instrument clusters that can short out on 2020-2024 Gladiators and 2018-2024 Wranglers. Recall 22V639 covered 11 unsold 2022s with a park pawl that might not engage.
2023-2026: 98 complaints so far
Trucks from 2023 on have been out only a few seasons. The 2023 has 57, led by the electrical system (13) and fuel system (8). Recall 23V641 replaces a gear position sensor on 2022-2023 manual Gladiators, since the rear camera and reverse lights may not work. Recall 26V456 inspects steel wheels on 641 2026 Gladiators and Wranglers whose walls may be too thin, so they can crack or come off.
Complaints and recalls by model year
Gladiator numbers come from NHTSA owner complaints logged through October 10, 2026, and a multi-year campaign shows up in each year it covers. No 2027 truck has a complaint on file yet.

Repair or sell the Gladiator?
- Check the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup. If 26V363 is open, park the truck outside until a dealer handles it.
- Burned already? Fire damage explains what insurers and buyers look at.
- Clutch slipping or smoking on a manual? Ask a dealer about the clutch recalls before paying for a clutch replacement.
- Then weigh it. Set the repair estimate beside the market price of a running Gladiator like yours. Junk truck or SUV covers trucks that aren't worth the fix.
Selling a Gladiator as it sits
- Note the basics: VIN, mileage, gas or EcoDiesel, manual or automatic, and what's wrong.
- Ask for an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Describe where the truck sits and if it can move. A burned or wrecked Gladiator may need a winch, so say so. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
- Keep the Gladiator's top, doors and wheels in place. Pulled parts change what we offer.
- Have the Gladiator's title and your ID out when our driver arrives. Once the Gladiator is gone, plates and insurance are covered in after you sell.
Questions people ask
- Why does the Gladiator recall say to park outside?
- Recall 26V363, filed June 4, 2026, says the wiring for the electric hydraulic power steering pump on 2021-2025 Gladiators can overheat and cause a fire. Until a dealer fixes the Gladiator, owners are told to park it outdoors, away from buildings. The campaign's 1,076,999 vehicles include the Wrangler and Wrangler 4xe.
- Which Gladiator year has the most NHTSA complaints?
- The 2020, the first year, with 483 of 993 as of October 10, 2026. The 2021 has 292. Each later Gladiator year has spent less time in owners' hands, so its count is naturally smaller.
- Are there recalls on the manual transmission clutch?
- Four. 20V124, 21V028 and 23V116 deal with a clutch pressure plate that can overheat and fracture, and 24V572 updates software on some 2021s already fixed under 23V-116. Each campaign also covers the Wrangler.
- Will you buy a Gladiator that burned or won't run?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and you sell the whole car as it sits. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
