Wentzville junk cars: storage, snow and the 500-foot lamp rule
Lose the battery while parked along a dark Wentzville roadway, and you are breaking a lighting rule. From a half hour after sunset until a half hour before sunrise, if the light is too weak to see 500 feet, City Code Section 350.050 says "at least one lamp shall display a white or amber light visible from a distance of 500 feet to the front of the vehicle," plus a red lamp to the rear. A flat battery powers neither. To end that problem for good, we buy whole non-running and junk cars. Sell the whole car as it sits; pickup is free anywhere in the US.

Section 390.030: no open storage
Wentzville's central junk-car sentence reads: "The open storage of any unlicensed or inoperable vehicles or other vehicles deemed by the city to constitute a public safety hazard is prohibited." Either word triggers it. Expired tags on a runner count just as much as a seized engine does.
Two kinds of vehicle fall outside it. No Wentzville rule reaches a car "completely enclosed within a locked building or locked fenced area and not visible from adjacent public or private property." The city also allows any licensed salvage, swap, junk, towing or storage firm in Wentzville to hold a car its license covers.
When the snow emergency is called
Section 395.020 lets the mayor and city administrator, or a designee, declare a snow emergency lasting 48 hours or until they call it finished. Word goes out on the city website and through at least two media outlets. From then, nobody may "park, or suffer to be parked, any vehicle of any kind or description at any time on either side of any public roadway within the city roads system." Offending vehicles "may be ticketed or towed at the discretion of the city police department."
Residents on a collector or minor street whose house has no driveway and no nearby off-street public parking get an exception. Anyone else with a stalled car on the street should clear it before plows arrive.
Parks are off-limits for a breakdown
Section 355.120 confines parking inside Wentzville's public parks to designated roadways and lots, and bars driving onto grass without the parks director's approval.
Two Missouri rules worth knowing first
Plates stay with you. Missouri Revenue tells sellers to remove plates before the buyer takes possession, whether valid or expired.
Inspection age matters. St. Charles County sellers in Wentzville hand over an emissions report and a safety slip, both from the last 60 days. Section 307.350 excuses cars below 150,000 miles from the safety slip for ten years past their model year, so a newer low-mile car may skip it.
Revenue's own seller page covers the title steps; our Missouri page sums them up.

Questions people ask
- My battery died with the car at the curb. Does Wentzville care?
- After dark, on a stretch without enough light to see 500 feet, yes. Section 350.050 requires "at least one lamp shall display a white or amber light visible from a distance of 500 feet to the front of the vehicle" and a red one to the rear. Without battery power, neither lights.
- Does Wentzville tow a stalled car in a snow emergency?
- It can. Once declared, no vehicle may sit on either side of any public roadway in the city system until the emergency ends, and violators "may be ticketed or towed at the discretion of the city police department." Declarations last 48 hours or until called off.
- Is an expired-plate car in my side yard allowed?
- Section 390.030 bars open storage of any unlicensed or inoperable vehicle. Only a car "completely enclosed within a locked building or locked fenced area and not visible" from nearby or public property is outside it.
