Selling a junk or dead car in Sapulpa
In Sapulpa, a car left parked in violation of city code for more than 48 hours does not just collect tickets. Section 15-1310 says it "shall be impounded." So a dead car on a Sapulpa street runs on a short clock. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, which means you can sell the whole car as it sits and skip the tow lot. We offer free pickup anywhere in the US, from a curb near Dewey Avenue to a back yard on the edge of Creek County.

Sapulpa's impound rules for parked cars
Section 15-1304 lets city police impound vehicles in the cases the chapter lists. Two of them matter most for a car that will not start:
- Overtime parking. Under Section 15-1310, an unattended car parked "more than one (1) hour in excess of the time allowed for parking in any place shall be impounded." A car parked in violation of the code "regarding more than forty-eight (48) hours" is impounded too.
- Stalled in an intersection. Section 15-1312 says an unattended car illegally parked in an intersection "shall be impounded." If the car dies there and you are with it, it "shall be moved out of the intersection and to the nearest available legal parking space at the street curbing."
The curb only buys time. Once the car outstays the parking limit there, 15-1310 takes over.
A dead car in a Sapulpa yard
The Sapulpa sections we read stop at the curb. None of them says how long a junk car may stay in a yard. That is a gap in what we found, not proof the city is silent, so call City Hall before you count on leaving one parked.
State law applies either way. Under 47 O.S. 954A, "in addition to any local ordinance", a property owner who reasonably believes a car was abandoned on the property for at least 48 hours can have a licensed Class AA wrecker remove it. On public property, officers treat a car as abandoned after 48 hours with no sign the owner plans to move it.
When a wrecker hauls a car off private land, it must ask for owner data within 3 business days. It must also mail certified notice of where the car is within 7 days. If it skips that, the owner owes no storage.

Sapulpa owners handle titles and tags with Service Oklahoma or one of its licensed operators, the tag agencies.
Oklahoma paperwork when you sell
- Notary. A Sapulpa seller swears to the title assignment and its warranty of title in front of a notary.
- Electronic titles. Service Oklahoma has issued titles electronically since July 1, 2025. If yours is electronic, complete Form 718, Service Oklahoma's bill of sale for electronic titles, get it notarized, and hand it to the buyer in place of a paper title. A paper title stays valid until the next sale.
- Plates. They stay with you. Oklahoma plates are not transferable between owners, but you can move one to a replacement vehicle of the same class.
- Two business days. A Sapulpa sale gets pre-registered with Service Oklahoma by the buyer or seller within 2 business days. It can be you or the buyer. Form 773 is optional and costs $10.
- No title? In Sapulpa, a certificate of ownership can move a car that won't run and is older than the last 10 model years, or any car going to a scrap metal dealer. The seller sends in a copy with a $4 fee within 30 days. More on that in selling with no title.

Questions people ask
- Can a dead car on a Sapulpa street get towed by police?
- Not past the posted limit. Section 15-1310 says an unattended car parked more than one hour beyond the time allowed shall be impounded, and so shall any car parked in violation of the code for more than 48 hours.
- My car died in an intersection in Sapulpa. What do I do?
- If you are with it, Section 15-1312 says it must be moved out of the intersection to the nearest legal parking space at the curb. An unattended car left illegally parked in an intersection shall be impounded.
- Does the buyer get my Oklahoma plate?
- No. Oklahoma plates stay with the seller and cannot pass to the buyer. You can have one moved to a replacement vehicle of the same class.
- I have an electronic Oklahoma title. How do I transfer it?
- Print Form 718 from Service Oklahoma's site. It is the bill of sale that stands in for an electronic title. Fill it out, sign with a notary watching, and pass it to the Sapulpa buyer.
