Selling a damaged or dead Polestar 3

Known problems, 2025-2026 model years

The EPA lists the Polestar 3 for 2025 and 2026 as a standard-size electric SUV, in Long Range Single Motor and Dual Motor versions. Every complaint and recall so far is on the 2025. A model this young has had only a short run on the road to gather complaints.

Electrical. Recall 24V940 covers 6 vehicles in which swings in the 12-volt system may have damaged the high to low voltage converter module; dealers replace it. Recall 25V453 covers 969 vehicles in which water can get into the connectors between the engine bay and front bumper harnesses; Polestar replaces the bumper harness and the connector.

Camera. Recall 25V293, the largest at 3,664 vehicles in the campaign, says the rearview image may not show in reverse. Polestar's remedy is new software, installed by a dealer or pushed over the air.

Body and interior. Recall 25V420 (33 vehicles) says the panoramic glass roof may not be secured and can detach. Recall 25V555 (68 vehicles) covers a front bumper that may be missing bolts. Recall 26V037 (213 vehicles) covers rear seat backrest brackets that may be loose.

NHTSA lists five of the six repairs at no charge; the 25V555 entry gives no cost. Vehicle figures cover each campaign in full.

Complaints and recalls by model year

Polestar 3 counts come from the NHTSA complaint data pulled October 10, 2026.

After the electrical system, owners named back over prevention 6 times, forward collision avoidance 4, fuel and propulsion 4, and service brakes 3. One owner reported an injury, 4 reported a tow, and none reported a fire.

Repair it or sell it?

On a car this new, check two things before deciding:

1. Recall status. Paste the VIN into NHTSA's lookup. An electrical fault may already have a free remedy.
2. The insurance and loan picture. If the insurer totaled it, see insurer totaled it. If you still owe money, see still owe on the loan.
