Junk car in Bentonville? Selling it whole

No Bentonville junk-car ordinance turned up online for us, which leaves state law as the clearest guide. Under Ark. Code 27-50-1202, a vehicle left unattended turns abandoned at 30 days when nothing shows its owner intends to come back. If your car is nearer that line than the open road, we buy whole non-running and junk cars. You sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

Bentonville rules: confirm with the city

We could not find any Arkansas law covering junk cars kept on private land. Cities handle them as nuisances, each in its own words, so Bentonville may have rules we simply couldn't read. For a sense of one Arkansas version: North Little Rock's code 8.3.2 bars inoperable or junk vehicles on private property outside approved storage, gives 30 days' warning before an owner-paid tow, and spares running cars that move, cars under repair, and cars hidden in an enclosure. That's North Little Rock, not Bentonville. Ask the city before leaning on it.

Scrapping a car, Arkansas style

Selling for crushing or parts follows a separate path. You assign the title to the buyer; it then goes, along with DFA's dismantle notice, to the Office of Motor Vehicle. DFA voids that title and logs the car as dismantled. A fresh one comes only if, within 90 days, the filer certifies the notice was a mistake. In practice, scrap means final.

Older cars have a shortcut. For a car 25 years or older with no title, a bill of sale showing the year, make, model and VIN takes the title's place. Newer and titleless? See selling with no title.

Branded titles in Arkansas

Three brands get printed: SALVAGE, REBUILT, and PARTS ONLY ("Not for Registration"). A Bentonville car gets an Arkansas salvage brand if flood water rose above the dashboard or if damage hits 70% or more of average retail value. Arkansas does not use a separate flood brand. Water that rose past the dash makes a car salvage. Branding skips cars whose age passed 7 model years before their damage year.

Owners may also request a PARTS ONLY title when damage leaves value only in parts (Ark. Code 27-14-2302). Such a car never returns to the road. Salvage title covers selling one.

Handing it over in Bentonville

Ordinary sale: sign the title, give it to your buyer, and fill out Form 10-313 as a pair. DFA's instructions for sellers mention no notary stamp. Plates stay in your hands; reusing them later costs $1.00 at DFA.

Questions people ask

Is there a Bentonville ordinance on junk cars?
We found none online. We found no statewide Arkansas private-property rule; cities handle it as a nuisance, so Bentonville may have its own.
Can a titleless car be scrapped in Arkansas?
Yes, if the car is 25 years old or more. Along with DFA's dismantle notice, a bill of sale listing the year, make, model and VIN takes the place of the title. Younger cars need a title, a replacement, or a bonded title.
Once a car is recorded as dismantled, can it be titled again?
Only when the person who filed swears within 90 days that the dismantle notice was sent in error. Otherwise DFA issues no new title.
