Selling an old GMC Rally van

Seven. That's every complaint owners have filed with NHTSA on the GMC Rally, counted as of October 10, 2026, across van years that EPA's data runs from 1984 to 1995. Each one is a single owner's report, not a reliability score. Later model years got fewer seasons for reports to come in, and with numbers this small, one or two can make a year look busy.

What EPA lists

EPA's file names the Rally as G15/25 and G35 vans with two-wheel drive, in its passenger van classes. The Vandura carries the same G15/25 and G35 names, but EPA files it among cargo vans. No generation dates were gathered for the Rally, so the table groups quiet years together.

Known problems, such as they are

1984-1994

Three complaints in eleven model years: a latch, lock or linkage on a 1988, the structure on a 1989, and the fuel system on a 1992. None report a crash, fire or injury, and no recall campaigns are listed for those years.

1995

The last year in EPA's data has four of the seven complaints: two about the hydraulic brakes, one about seat belts and one about the fuel system. It also has the Rally's only recall, 95V026. The automatic's case was cast too thin in spots and could seep fluid. The remedy was a dealer check, with a new transmission for any van carrying the affected casting. Vandura vans share that campaign, so its 13,853 vehicles are not all Rallys.

Selling your Rally whole

  1. Find the VIN, read the mileage, and list what's broken.
  2. Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Describe the parking spot and whether the van can be pushed, so we send a truck that can load it. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
  4. Leave the seats and parts in. Take out your own things.
  5. Have the title at pickup. No title? See selling with no title.

Fix it or sell it?

A leaking 1995 automatic is worth a look at bad transmission before you pay for a rebuild. If the van has been parked a long time, sitting for years covers what usually needs attention. Compare the repair quote with what the van would be worth running.

Other GMC vans: the Vandura, Savana and Safari, or every GMC.

Questions people ask

How many NHTSA complaints does the GMC Rally have?
Seven across all model years, as of October 10, 2026. Four are on the 1995. None report a crash, fire, injury or death.
Was the Rally ever recalled?
Just once in NHTSA's list: campaign 95V026, on 1995 vans, for a thin-walled transmission case that could leak. Vans with the affected case got a new transmission. That campaign also covers the GMC Vandura, so its 13,853-vehicle count is shared.
Can you pick up a Rally that hasn't run in years?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Mention where it sits and if its wheels still turn.
