Every Prologue is a 2024 or newer, so go to the dealer first. Three recalls and two Honda service programs cover the car, and one software update alone touches every control module on the 2024.

A Honda built by GM

The Prologue is Honda's battery-electric mid-size SUV, developed with General Motors and built at GM's plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico. Production started in January 2024. It runs on an 85 kWh lithium-ion pack that can take DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, which Honda says adds about 65 miles in 10 minutes. It was also the first Honda SUV with Google built in.

For 2024, the single-motor front-wheel-drive version made 212 hp and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version 288 hp. EPA range was 296 miles for front-drive and 281 for all-wheel drive, or 273 on the AWD Elite. A new front power unit for 2025 raised output to 220 hp and 300 hp and lifted the best range to 308 miles. The 2026 keeps that 308-mile rating and adds a standard Portable Charging Kit.

What owners have reported

NHTSA's files held 1,009 complaints on the Prologue on October 10, 2026, and 847 of them are on the 2024. Steering is the area named most, 219 times. Electrical problems come next at 155, then suspension (136) and power train (133). The complaints report 17 crashes, 21 injuries, 13 tows and one fire.

No recall or Honda document we read connects the steering, suspension or power train counts to a defect. We can tell you how often owners filed, not what broke.

Recalls and Honda service programs

  • Front control arm (24V-540). On 39 cars from 2024, the right front lower control arm may have a manufacturing defect that lets it fracture, which can cause a loss of control. Dealers inspect it and replace it if needed.
  • Blank screens (26V-112). A software error on 2024 Prologues and Acura ZDXs, 65,135 vehicles in all, can make the instrument panel display fail and leave the backup camera blank in reverse. Dealers update the radio control module software.
  • Backup camera (26V-306). On 59,887 2024-2025 Prologues and 2024 ZDXs, the camera picture may be distorted or blank. Dealers will replace the camera. Honda mailed interim letters July 7, 2026 and expected the remedy in late 2026.
  • Motor mount bolts. An April 2025 product update covers 20 cars from 2024 whose front drive motor mount bolts are the wrong size. They can damage the drive unit case and cause an oil leak. Dealers check the bolts and replace the transmission module if necessary.
  • Vehicle-Wide Programming (bulletin 25-081). Released October 3, 2025, it reprograms every control module on a 2024 in one pass. It improves adaptive cruise control and radar alignment, cuts radar false alarms and fixes a false Traffic Sign Monitoring option. It also improves battery temperature control during Level 3 charging, addresses loss-of-communication codes, fixes an Unable to Charge message on Level 1 and 2 chargers, and stops the driver's seat from moving on its own while driving.

Complaints and recalls by model year

These are NHTSA complaint counts per model year as of our October 10, 2026 download. One recall can cover two model years, so the column adds to 4 though there are 3 campaigns.

Repair, claim or sell?

A Prologue is too new to be worn out, so the real question is what happened to it. Sort out which case you have:

  1. A fault. Start with the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, then ask a Honda dealer whether bulletin 25-081 and your factory warranty cover the rest.
  2. A crash. If insurance is involved, our wrecked car guide explains totals and what to do with the car afterward.
  3. Water damage. The flood-damaged car guide covers what comes next.
  4. Money still owed. The car loan guide covers the payoff letter and who holds the title.

Selling a Prologue as it sits

  1. Collect the details: VIN, mileage, whether it powers on, and what the dash says.
  2. Request an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Describe where it is and whether the wheels turn freely. A garage, a body shop lot or the curb all work, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
  4. Keep it complete. Leave the battery, wheels and body panels on, and put the charging cord in the car if you have it. Say what's missing.
  5. Have the title or lender paperwork ready, plus a photo ID. Plate rules vary by state; see after you sell.

Other electrified Hondas: the Clarity, the CR-V hybrid and fuel cell models, and the 1990s EV Plus.

Questions people ask

Why does the Prologue have so many steering complaints?
NHTSA's files show steering as the area named most: 219 of the 1,009 complaints counted on October 10, 2026, and 188 on the 2024 alone. No recall or Honda bulletin we read names a cause, so we can report the count but not a defect. If yours steers oddly, have a Honda dealer look at it.
Which Prologue recalls should I check?
Three. 24V-540 covers a right front lower control arm that can fracture on 39 cars from 2024. 26V-112 fixes software that can blank the instrument panel and backup camera on 2024 models. 26V-306 replaces backup cameras on 2024-2025 Prologues that show a distorted or blank picture. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
My 2024 Prologue shows Unable to Charge on a home charger. Is there a fix?
Honda bulletin 25-081 (October 3, 2025) reprograms every control module on the 2024 Prologue in one visit. Among other things, it fixes an Unable to Charge message on Level 1 or Level 2 charging and improves battery temperature control during Level 3 charging.
Can I sell a Prologue I still owe money on?
Yes. Get the payoff from your lender, find out who holds the title, and plan for any gap between the payoff and the offer. Our car-loan guide goes through each step.
Do you buy a Prologue that was in a crash or won't power on?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, including electric ones, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Tell us whether it powers on, whether it rolls, and where the damage is.
