Hummer is a short list. The EPA's fuel economy data shows only two Hummer models, the H2 and the H3, across the 2003 to 2010 model years. Wikipedia lists General Motors as the brand's owner. So every Hummer this page covers is at least 16 model years old today.
Two trucks, eight model years
- H2: in the EPA list from 2003 through 2009. It is the first Hummer the list carries.
- H3: in the EPA list from 2006 through 2010. It arrived three years after the H2 and outlasted it by one.
For 2006 through 2009 the two were on sale side by side. After 2010 no Hummer-badged model appears in the EPA list at all.
The H3 draws more complaints than the H2
Here is the tally of owner complaints sent to NHTSA, H2 and H3 separately, across every EPA-listed model year, as of October 10, 2026.
The H3 has more than twice the H2's count. Each entry is something an owner reported, not a defect NHTSA confirmed, and a model that sold in bigger numbers tends to gather more of them. Newer years often show fewer reports since owners had less time to file, but the last Hummer is a 2010, so that effect barely matters here. The H2 and H3 pages split their totals by model year and by the part owners pointed to.
What every Hummer here has in common
They are all old, and they are all big. Age matters once one quits: on a truck from 2010 or earlier, a single repair bill can top its value. Our guide on when the fix outprices the vehicle walks through that choice.
Size matters for pickup too. A dead H2 or H3 will not drive onto anything, so the truck that collects it has to reach it where it sits. Tell us if it is in a garage, behind a gate, or nose-in against a wall.
Selling a dead Hummer whole
Leave the wheels and battery on; nothing comes off first. The whole truck goes, as it is.
- Have the model, the year and the mileage ready.
- For a Hummer, mention if it cranks, if it pushes, and what's broken or missing.
- Check that the title is with you. If it isn't, read selling a junk car with no title.
- Describe the spot: driveway, garage, gated lot, and how close a tow truck can get.
Pickup is free anywhere in the US. Once it is gone, see what to do after you sell.

Questions people ask
- Will you buy a Hummer that doesn't run?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and that includes an H2 or H3 that will not start. Sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
- Which Hummer has more NHTSA complaints, the H2 or the H3?
- The H3. Owners filed 798 complaints with NHTSA about the H3 and 343 about the H2, counted on October 10, 2026. Those are reports from owners; NHTSA has not ruled on each one.
- Is a Hummer EV in this list?
- No. The Hummer entries in the EPA list end with the 2010 model year, so this page and its model index cover the H2 and the H3.
