Selling a worn-out Hyundai Entourage minivan
Three of every four NHTSA complaints about the Hyundai Entourage are about one model year: the 2007, with 213 of 287. Structure is the part owners name most across all years, and two of its six recalls are about corrosion.

If your Entourage has a rusted-out control arm, a hood that won't latch or an electrical fault you're done chasing, you can sell it whole. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
Each number below is an owner report sent to NHTSA, as tallied on Oct. 10, 2026. A report is not proof of a defect and not a reliability rating. Younger vehicles usually pile up fewer reports simply because they've been driven for fewer years, but the youngest Entourage in NHTSA's file is a 2008.
A Kia minivan with a Hyundai badge
Kia built the Entourage at its Sohari plant in South Korea, alongside the similar Kia Sedona, according to Wikipedia. It debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2006, went on sale in April 2006 in long-wheelbase form, and was dropped in North America for the 2010 model year. EPA data lists Entourage model years from 2007 to 2011, but NHTSA's complaint file stops at 2008.
It started out with strong crash scores. The IIHS rated the Entourage "Good" in front, side and rear impacts and named the 2007 a "Gold Top Safety Pick."
What went wrong, by model year
All Entourages are one generation, so this section goes year by year.
2007: most of the complaints, all six recalls
Electrical system leads the 2007's complaints with 38, then suspension with 27 and structure with 26. Eleven complaints report a crash, every crash in the file, and ten report an injury.
Every one of the six recall campaigns lists the 2007:
- Lower control arms (13V556). Covers Entourages built from February 16, 2006 through June 30, 2008 and sold or registered in certain states. Dealers check how corroded the front lower control arms are, then rustproof or replace them. This ties straight to the suspension complaints.
- Hood latch (16V843). Same build window. The secondary hood latch may corrode and bind. The covered states include Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa, among others.
- Brake light switch (09V122 and 13V113). The stop lamp switch may malfunction. These campaigns count 532,633 and 1,712,336 vehicles, but both cover a long list of Hyundais, including the Accent, Sonata, Tucson and Santa Fe.
- Brake switch wiring (06V356). On vans with adjustable pedals, the stop lamp switch wiring harness may sit out of place and rub against the U-joint. Dealers inspect for chafing, repair it and secure the harness.
- ABS module (20V061). Hyundai expanded an Elantra recall in February 2020 to add 46,425 Entourage and 2007 Santa Fe vehicles. The fix adds a relay inside the main junction box to prevent the risk of an ABS short circuit.
2008: structure moves to the top
The 2008 has 73 complaints. Structure leads with 20, ahead of suspension at 9 and electrical system at 7. Five of the seven fire reports in the whole file are on the 2008. Four recalls list it: both corrosion recalls, the 13V113 stop lamp switch campaign and the ABS relay.
2006
One complaint, about the suspension, is filed under the 2006 model year, and one recall (09V122) lists it.
Complaints and recalls by model year
Entourage counts: NHTSA owner complaints, pulled Oct. 10, 2026. Since most Entourage recalls name both 2007 and 2008, those campaigns appear twice and the column totals 11, not 6.
| Model year | Complaints | Crashes | Fires | Injured | Recall campaigns | Top three components |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2006 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | Suspension (1) |
| 2007 | 213 | 11 | 2 | 10 | 6 | Electrical (38), suspension (27), structure (26) |
| 2008 | 73 | 0 | 5 | 1 | 4 | Structure (20), suspension (9), electrical (7) |
Across all years, owners named structure 46 times, electrical system 45, suspension 37 and latches, locks and linkages 29. No deaths are reported. Eight complaints say the van was towed.
Fix it or sell it?
On an Entourage, the hard repairs are usually rust and suspension, and they tend to come together.
- Look up the two corrosion recalls first. Enter the VIN at NHTSA's recall search. If 13V556 or 16V843 shows open, ask a Hyundai dealer what they will do.
- Failed inspection for rust? Our rust and failed inspection guide walks through it. If the frame itself is rotted, see rotted frame.
- Control arm or strut gone? See broken suspension for when a van like this is still worth fixing.
- Electrical gremlins? Brake lights, locks and dash faults are covered in electrical problems.
When the rust and suspension bill tops what a running Entourage brings, the van is worth more gone than fixed.
Selling the whole van
- Have the VIN, mileage and the main problem ready, plus whether it rolls and steers.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Describe the spot: curb, side yard, apartment lot or the back of a repair shop. If a control arm has failed and a wheel sits at an angle, say so. That helps the truck that comes plan how to load it.
- Leave it whole. Keep the seats, wheels and battery in. Tell us about anything already removed.
- Pickup itself takes the signed title, your ID and whatever keys you have. Then see after you sell for plates and insurance.
Other Hyundais that share its recalls are the Santa Fe and Sonata. For a current Hyundai, see the Palisade, or browse every Hyundai.
Questions people ask
- Which Entourage year has the most NHTSA complaints?
- The 2007 has 213 of the 287 in NHTSA's file (counted Oct. 10, 2026). Next is the 2008 at 73, and one lone complaint sits under 2006. NHTSA's file holds no complaints for any later Entourage year.
- Was the Entourage recalled for rust?
- Two recalls deal with corrosion on 2007-2008 Entourages built from February 16, 2006 to June 30, 2008. Recall 13V556 has dealers check the front lower control arms for corrosion and rustproof or replace them. Recall 16V843 covers a secondary hood latch that may corrode and bind. Both name vans sold or registered in certain states.
- Will you buy an Entourage with a broken control arm that can't be driven?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Say it can't be driven and whether the wheels still turn; that decides how it gets loaded.
