Selling a dead or junk Isuzu I-Mark
Two of the Isuzu I-Mark's three recalls are about fuel leaking where it shouldn't: a fuel pump diaphragm that cracks, and a tank or feed pipe that rusts through. On a car last built for 1989, those are worth checking before anything else.

The Gemini behind it
Wikipedia covers the I-Mark under the Isuzu Gemini. The EPA years, 1984 to 1989, overlap two Gemini generations. The first was rear-wheel drive, built until February 1987, with 1,584 cc G161Z and 1,817 cc G180Z engines. The second, built 1985 to 1990 and styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, moved to front-wheel drive, with engines including the 1,471 cc 4XC1, a 4XC1-T turbo and a 1,588 cc 4XE1 DOHC. The Stylus replaced it.
Recalls by year
- 87V071, 1985-1986: high alcohol content in fuel can crack the fuel pump diaphragm. A vent hose kit was added to keep leaking fuel out of the engine bay. 28,509 vehicles in all, a campaign count that may reach past the I-Mark.
- 88V041, 1987-1988: the fuel tank or feed pipe can corrode through. The tank was replaced with a corrosion-resistant one. 2,090 vehicles.
- 88V042, 1987-1988: the PCV valve may not pass enough air at low engine load, and was replaced. 2,483 vehicles.

Fix or sell
Run the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup, then price the repair against what a running I-Mark brings. A car parked for years tends to need fuel system and brake work all at once; see car sitting for years or old project car.
