Selling a junk car in North Attleborough
North Attleborough sellers have no release-of-liability form to send in. The protection sits in c. 90D s. 15(e) instead. After you sign the assignment and the North Attleborough car leaves, later driving and violations aren't on you, even if the buyer's title hasn't arrived. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and you sell the whole car as it sits.

What you do instead of a form
That statute deals with liability, not tax, and the tax is what people forget. Excise in North Attleborough runs $25 on every $1,000 of value. It won't stop till the registration gets cancelled. After the car is gone:
- Cancel the registration from your MyMassGov account.
- Save the receipt; your insurer gets a copy.
- Recycle the plates or saw them in two. The RMV does not want them.
Buying again within 7 calendar days? The plates can go on that car instead. More in after you sell.
What a Junked status means
Massachusetts marks a title "Junked" when the vehicle cannot operate and has been scrapped. From then on, no title or registration can ever be issued for it again. Insurance totals have a twin: when the insurer that totals a car brands it PART, parts only, the car is shut out of Massachusetts registration permanently.
Selling a car whole does not junk it; that status arrives with the scrapping. If a title already carries either mark, see nonrepairable or junk title.
North Attleborough's rules on stored cars
North Attleborough's bylaws did not appear in our online search, so treat this as Massachusetts law only; the town may keep its own rules for cars on a lot, and town hall will know. Chapter 140B, the junkyard law, regulates junkyard businesses, not a resident's idle car. A car left elsewhere comes under chapter 90, section 22C. In North Attleborough, an abandoned-looking car on a street or uninvited on land past 72 hours can be taken by an officer when its tow and disposal cost tops its value.
Signing the title
When you hand over the car, Massachusetts requires the title to be assigned with the real mileage and a warranty of good title. Per the RMV, the North Attleborough seller fills in the mileage, and then seller and buyer sign, print and date. No price line on the title means the price goes on a bill of sale. A notary isn't on the list.
The rest is up to the buyer. A North Attleborough buyer has 10 days. In North Attleborough, the title goes through a licensed Massachusetts insurance agent. The buyer pays 6.25% sales tax and the $75 title fee.
