Selling a Mercedes-Benz EQB with battery or electrical trouble

Four of the EQB's six recall campaigns are about its high-voltage battery. Three of them carry the same warning: the battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire, parked or driving.

The four battery recalls

NHTSA's recall notices, in the order they were filed. Vehicle totals cover the full campaign, and each of the four lists EQB models only.

  • 25V050 (February 2025; 2022-2025 EQB 250, EQB 300 4MATIC, EQB 350 4MATIC): the battery may fail internally and catch fire. Until the fix is made, owners were asked to stop charging at 80%. 12,236 vehicles.
  • 25V487 (July 2025; 2022-2023 EQB 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC): the bus bar inside the battery may be held by the wrong screws. Owners were told to park outside, and dealers inspect and replace the battery as necessary, free of charge. 660 vehicles.
  • 25V894 (December 2025; 2023 EQB 250, 2022-2023 EQB 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC): the same internal battery fire warning and the same 80% charging limit. 169 vehicles.
  • 26V073 (February 2026; 2023-2024 EQB 250+, 2022-2024 EQB 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC): the fire warning again, this time with advice to park outside and away from structures, plus the charging limit. 11,895 vehicles.

None of the 128 complaints in NHTSA's file reports a fire.

Two smaller recalls

Recall 24V331 covers 283 of the 2022 EQB 300 and 350: a spur gear in the front axle electric drivetrain may not have been welded properly, and dealers replace the front drivetrain free of charge. Recall 23V677 covers exactly one 2022 EQB 350 with the wrong child seat anchor covers.

What owners filed, year by year

The EQB has one generation so far. Wikipedia lists two layouts: the EQB 250 with a single front motor and front-wheel drive, and the EQB 300 and 350 4MATIC with twin motors and four-wheel drive. It rides on the MFA2 platform shared with the GLB-Class.

The electrical system dominates: 88 of 128 complaints name it. The 2023 alone has 94 complaints, 66 of them electrical and 8 about fuel and propulsion.

EQB counts are from NHTSA on October 10, 2026. Recent EQB years haven't been around long, so they carry just a handful of reports. A recall campaign counts in each model year it lists.

The 2022 is listed in all six campaigns. Three of the four crashes reported in EQB complaints are on 2024 models.

Fix it or sell it?

  1. Start with the VIN. NHTSA's lookup shows which battery recalls are open. Recall repairs are done by Mercedes-Benz dealers, and several of these notices say free of charge.
  2. Problem not covered by a recall? A battery pack or drive unit replacement outside a recall is a big quote. Get it in writing. The EV battery guide explains what goes into that decision.
  3. Compare the repair quote with what the EQB would be worth after the fix. When the repair takes most of it, see repairs that cost more than the car.
  4. Keep following the recall advice in the meantime: the charging limit, and parking outside where the notice says so.

Selling an EQB as it sits

  1. Jot down the VIN and miles, any open recalls, and if the car turns on and can be pushed.
  2. Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Tell us where the EQB is. If a recall told you to park it outside, leave it there. Our driver will pick it up from that spot.
  4. Leave the battery and drive units in the car. Sell the whole car as it sits, and mention anything already removed.
  5. Keep the EQB title and your photo ID close for when our driver gets there. Still making payments? Read still owe on the loan first.

Questions people ask

Which EQB model years have the most NHTSA complaints?
It's the 2023 EQB, at 94 complaints as of October 10, 2026, with 66 pointing to the electrical system. The 2022 has 21, the 2024 has 11 and the 2025 has 2. The 2024 and 2025 are still young, so their small counts will probably grow.
Will you buy an EQB with an open battery fire recall?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Tell us which recall numbers are open on the car, and keep following the recall's advice on charging and parking while it waits.
Is the EQB still made?
EPA data for the EQB runs from 2022 to 2025. Wikipedia lists production from 2021 to 2026 and names the GLB with EQ Technology as its successor.
Which EQBs are in all four battery recalls?
A 2022 or 2023 EQB 300 4MATIC or EQB 350 4MATIC is named in all four: 25V050, 25V487, 25V894 and 26V073. To see which ones are still open on your EQB, enter the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
