Selling a junk or broken Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class

One generation, two halves

The GLK was a compact crossover built from 2008 to 2015 and related to the W204 C-Class, according to Wikipedia. US buyers got the 2010 through 2015 model years. EPA data lists the GLK350, the GLK350 4Matic and the GLK250 BlueTec 4Matic diesel. The GLC replaced it in 2015.

GLK owners filed the reports below with NHTSA, counted on October 10, 2026.

2010-2012: the heaviest years

546 complaints, and 376 of them name the air bags. The 2010 has the most of any GLK year, 241, with air bags at 148. On the 2012, it's 136 of 171.

Fuel and propulsion ranks second on all three years (24, 18 and 12 complaints). Under recall 12V557, some 2011-2012 GLK350s built April to July 2011 got a new fuel filter. The 5,800-vehicle campaign also took in S-Class, C-Class, E-Class and CL models.

The air bag recalls for these years:

• 15V711: the air bag control unit on 2010 GLK350s, inspected and replaced as needed. The 127,504 vehicles include 2008-2009 C-Class sedans.
• 16V363 and 17V017: passenger frontal air bag modules on 2010-2011 and 2012 models.
• 16V081: driver air bag inflators. NHTSA lists the 2010-2012 GLK; the 711,159 vehicles include other Mercedes models and some Chrysler vehicles.

2013-2015: diesel and steering recalls

402 complaints, 270 naming air bags. Recall 18V043 and 19V010 continued the passenger air bag replacements, and 17V627 added grounding to steering parts on 2013-2015 models (part of a 495,290-vehicle campaign).

The diesel brought its own recalls. Recall 14V762 replaced a chain tensioner gasket on certain 2014-2015 GLK250 BlueTec 4Matic models. NHTSA also lists a related diesel recall, 15V351, for the 2015. Recall 21V539 covered 371 2013 GLK250s that may have had the wrong transmission fluid filter and overflow pipe put in during a service repair.

Recall 17V252 had dealers check and tighten the steering coupling bolt on 168 vehicles, including 2013-2015 GLK350s.

Worth fixing?

3. Say where the GLK sits and whether it pushes. A 4Matic that won't go into Neutral needs a truck rigged for it.
4. Keep it whole. Mention any part that's been taken off.
