Selling a junk car in Mooresville
In Mooresville the warning starts as a notice posted on the car. Section 14-42 says junked vehicles "shall be towed after notice is provided by posting a notice of violation on the motor vehicle," and towing waits "no sooner than seven (7) days" after. That same week is also the appeal window. If you would rather see the car gone than contest it, we buy whole non-running and junk cars, and free pickup anywhere in the US includes Iredell County.

One Mooresville rule for every surface
Section 14-39 reaches all ground at once: it is unlawful to "cause or allow any abandoned, junked, or nuisance motor vehicle to remain on any public street, public property, or private property." On public property, Section 14-43 allows moving the car "to a storage garage or area."
Private land gets a buffer. Section 14-44 bars towing a junked car off it without "the written request of the owner, lessee, or occupant," unless code compliance writes "that the aesthetic benefits of removing the vehicle outweigh the burdens imposed on the private property owner."
Mooresville's notice, appeal and week
A junked car gets one more notice. If the town can find the owner's name and address, "notice shall also be given by first class mail." The posted notice sets a removal date, unless the car is "brought into compliance" before then.
Owners "may appeal a notice of violation within seven (7) days of the date the pre-tow notice is affixed." Appeals pause removal until decided. Mooresville skips the seven days only for a car that "impedes the flow of traffic" or otherwise endangers the public.
Paying out a Mooresville tow
Section 14-45 requires paying "all reasonable towing fees and costs incidental to the removal, storage and locating of the owner of the vehicle" before release. More at towed or impounded.
Not a sales lot
Section 17-14 says no vehicle may sit on park property "for the purposes of sale, lease, gift, or repair." Town-owned lots carry their own limits under Section 23-81, and an offending car can be moved at its owner's cost.
Totaled cars and Iredell inspections
North Carolina labels a car salvage when repair parts and labor would top 75% of fair retail value. When the insurance company declares a loss, the owner may still keep the car by filling out the insurer's owner-retained salvage form. See insurer totaled it. Iredell sits on the emissions list, on top of yearly safety checks.
