Selling a dead or worn-out Saturn Outlook

Lights, not the engine, top the Saturn Outlook's complaint file. Exterior lighting is named in 366 of the 1,352 complaints owners filed with NHTSA, well ahead of the power train at 225. Lighting leads the 2007, 2008 and 2009 alike.

If your Outlook has bigger trouble than a headlight, we buy whole non-running and junk cars. You sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

What the Outlook is, and why its recalls are so big

The Outlook was Saturn's full-size crossover, built at the Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan on GM's Lambda platform. Wikipedia lists one powertrain: a 3.6-liter LY7 V6 with a 6-speed 6T70 automatic, in front- or all-wheel drive. Its predecessor was the Saturn Relay, and after it ended, its bodyshell came back as the mid-cycle refresh of the 2013 GMC Acadia.

Wikipedia lists the Buick Enclave as related, and most Outlook recalls also name the Enclave, GMC Acadia or Chevrolet Traverse. When a count below runs past a million, that's every vehicle in the campaign, not Outlooks alone.

2007-2008: the bulk of the complaints

These two years hold 1,144 complaints, and 29 of the Outlook's 32 fire reports. On the 2007, exterior lighting (113), power train (109) and air bags (78) lead. On the 2008, lighting climbs to 185, followed by electrical (104) and power train (102).

Recalls that reach these years:

  • 07V062 (2007): the sensing and diagnostic module that controls the front air bags may not work, so the front air bags may fail to deploy in a frontal crash. Dealers reprogram the module. 13,032 vehicles.
  • 08V441 (2007-2008): the dealer adds a wiring harness carrying its own in-line fuse. 857,735 vehicles across many GM trucks, SUVs and cars.
  • 10V240 (2007-2009): the heated washer fluid module comes out for good, disabled and removed. 1,365,070 vehicles campaign-wide.
  • 08V410 (2007-2008): a new wiper crank arm, link and nut on vehicles registered in certain states. 88,809 Enclaves, Acadias and Outlooks.
  • 15V415 (2007-2010): a software update for the power liftgate motor control unit. 691,144 vehicles.

2009-2010: fewer complaints, more seat belt recalls

The last two years hold 208 complaints: 192 on the 2009 and 16 on the 2010. Lighting still leads the 2009 (65), with steering second (39). On the 2010, steering is named most, 7 of 16. A 2010 has also had fewer years than a 2007 for owners to report problems, and GM stopped reporting individual sales for discontinued brands after January 2010.

Seven campaigns reach the 2009, more than any other Outlook year. Three involve seat belts:

  • 08V615 (2009): second- and third-row buckles that may not meet the seat belt standard. Dealers inspect and replace them if needed.
  • 10V375 (2009-2010): the second-row seat side trim shield can restrict the buckle. Dealers modify the shields and replace damaged buckles.
  • 14V266 (2009-2010): a check of the lap belt pretensioner, with repair or replacement when it fails inspection. 1,339,355 vehicles.

Also on these years: 14V118 (2008-2010), where increased resistance in the side air bag wiring harness is fixed with soldered connections, and 09V073 (2009), a shift cable adjustment clip.

The numbers, year by year

NHTSA supplied these Outlook figures on October 10, 2026. A recall reaching two or three Outlook years shows up once in every one of those years.

Across all years, air bags are named in 167 complaints and structure in 52. No complaint reports a death.

Fix it or sell it?

A big crossover can run up a big repair bill. If the quote gets near what a running Outlook brings, sell it as it sits.

  1. Look up any open Outlook recalls by VIN at NHTSA. Air bag and seat belt recalls are dealer work.
  2. Electrical gremlins, warning lights or dead accessories? Our electrical problems guide helps you decide.
  3. Transmission or engine done? See bad transmission and junk truck or SUV.

Selling an Outlook whole

  1. Note the Outlook's VIN, mileage and what quit.
  2. Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Describe the parking spot, say if it rolls, and tell us front- or all-wheel drive, so the truck can load it. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
  4. Leave it complete: wheels, battery, converter. Mention anything already pulled.
  5. When we load the Outlook, keep the title and keys handy. Missing the title? Read selling with no title.

Compare with the Vue, the Relay it replaced, or every Saturn model.

Questions people ask

Which Saturn Outlook year has the most NHTSA complaints?
The 2008, with 633 as of October 10, 2026. Exterior lighting leads that year with 185. The 2007 has 511, the 2009 has 192 and the 2010 has 16.
Are Outlook recalls the same as Acadia and Enclave recalls?
Many are. The Outlook is related to the Buick Enclave, and most of its 10 campaigns also name the Enclave, GMC Acadia or Chevrolet Traverse. That's why several campaign counts run past a million vehicles.
Do you buy an Outlook that doesn't run?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. A full-size crossover is fine; mention whether the wheels roll freely.
