Selling a wrecked or non-running Acura NSX
Acura sent just 300 copies of the final NSX Type S to the United States before the car ended in November 2022. Owners of every NSX year combined have filed only 17 complaints with NHTSA, and 6 of those are on the 2017.

A low count reflects how few were sold, not a clean bill of health for any one car. If yours is wrecked or won't run, we buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
First generation (NA1/2): 1991 to 2005
A team led by chief designer Masahito Nakano and executive chief engineer Shigeru Uehara designed the first NSX. Wikipedia credits its styling to the F-16 fighter jet cockpit, and says Formula One champion Ayrton Senna gave input late in development. It was built in Japan and discontinued in December 2005.
Complaints are sparse: 4 on the 1991, 2 on the 1992, and 1 each on the 1994, 2001 and 2005. The 1991's include hydraulic service brakes (2), tires and the power train. Engine and engine cooling come up once on the 1992 and once on the 2001.
The one recall here, 95V103, covers 1991 front seat belt buckles whose red release buttons can break and let pieces jam the buckle. Its 3,700,000-vehicle count covers far more than the NSX.
Second generation (NC1/2): 2017 to 2022
Honda renamed the meaning to "New Sports eXperience" and moved production to Marysville, Ohio, under chief engineer Ted Klaus. The EPA lists it as a hybrid.
The 2017 has 6 complaints: service brakes (2), the fuel and propulsion system (2) and the electrical system (1). The 2019 and 2021 have one each.
Four recalls touch these cars:
- 18V600: the couplers on the pipe between the left and right fuel tanks may leak. Dealers replace both tanks. 967 vehicles, all 2017-2018 NSX.
- 18V599: road vibration can loosen screws on the 2017's center high-mount brake light circuit board. Dealers replace the light. 793 vehicles.
- 20V314: fuel pump replacement on 2018-2019 cars, in a 135,995-vehicle campaign across many Honda and Acura models.
- 23V858: fuel pump module replacement on 2017-2020 cars, in a 2,490,460-vehicle campaign across many models.

Repair it or let it go
Run your VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup first; the listed remedies are free. On a second-generation car with a hybrid fault, see hybrid battery failed. After a crash, the insurer's call and the title brand drive the decision, so read wrecked or totaled and salvage title.
Selling the NSX whole
- Gather the title, VIN and mileage.
- Request an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
- Describe the damage and whether it rolls and steers. A low car may need careful loading, so say where it is parked.
- Keep it complete. Tell us about any parts already removed.
Questions people ask
- How many complaints have NSX owners filed with NHTSA?
- Seventeen across every model year, counted as of October 10, 2026. Nine are on first-generation cars and eight on the second generation, with 6 on the 2017 alone.
- Which NSX recalls are only about the NSX?
- Two: 18V600 for leaking fuel tank couplers on 2017-2018 cars (967 vehicles) and 18V599 for the 2017 center brake light (793). The other three campaigns cover many Honda and Acura models, so their vehicle counts are not NSX numbers.
- Will you buy a crashed NSX?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. You sell the whole car as it sits.
