Selling a junk or non-running Acura RSX
The Acura RSX has two recall campaigns, both on the 2006, and one of them only fixes a phone number printed in the owner's manual. What owners did report to NHTSA, 177 complaints in all, leans toward the power train in the early years and the suspension later.

The two halves of the RSX run
Wikipedia describes the RSX as a 3-door liftback coupe built from July 2001 to August 2006. The EPA lists it as a subcompact for the 2002-2006 model years. The name later went on a second car, a model planned for Marysville, Ohio in early 2026, which Wikipedia lists as cancelled.
2002-2004
These three years hold 118 complaints, and the 2002 alone has 76. On that first year, owners named the power train 18 times and both the engine and engine cooling and the air bags 12 times each. The 2002 complaints also report 10 crashes and 11 injuries. Not one recall campaign touches 2002-2004 cars.
2005-2006
The last two years hold 56 complaints. Suspension moves to the top: 12 of 32 on the 2005, and 5 of 24 on the 2006, tied with the power train. The only two recalls are here:
- Brake booster, 2006 (13V246). Dealers check the booster and swap it when required; Honda S2000s from 2006-2007 share the 18,352-vehicle campaign.
- Owner's manual, 2006 (06V270). Manuals listed the wrong number for NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline, and Honda mailed a corrected card. That campaign counts 1,190,000 vehicles, motorcycles included.
RSX complaints by year
RSX owner filings at NHTSA up to October 10, 2026, with two logged as 2001 and one as 2007. Later RSX years spent less time gathering reports.

Worth repairing?
With so few recalls, an RSX owner rarely has a free fix to fall back on outside the 2006 booster check, which a VIN search at NHTSA's lookup will confirm. Past that, it's the repair estimate versus the car's value. A worn front end or a tired engine on a coupe that is 20 or more years old is where old or high mileage cars usually get sold rather than fixed, and broken suspension covers that repair in particular.
Selling it whole
- Note the VIN, mileage and what's wrong.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Say where it is, and whether it rolls and steers.
- Leave the parts on. Tell us if anything has been swapped or removed, since modified and missing parts change an offer.
- Bring the title to the pickup. No title? See selling with no title.
Other small Acuras: the Integra and the CL coupe. Every Acura model is on the make page.
Questions people ask
- Does the Acura RSX have many recalls?
- No. NHTSA lists two campaigns, both on the 2006: one corrects the NHTSA hotline number printed in owner's manuals, and one inspects the brake booster. The 2002-2005 cars have none.
- What do RSX owners complain about most?
- The power train, named in 38 of 177 complaints as of October 10, 2026, then air bags (30) and suspension (18). On the 2005, suspension leads with 12 of 32.
- Can you pick up an RSX that doesn't run?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
