A Q4 e-tron that's wrecked, won't charge or won't power on can still be sold. We buy whole non-running and junk cars: sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

One generation, shared parts

Wikipedia lists the Q4 e-tron in production since March 2021 on Volkswagen's MEB platform, related to the VW ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq. It's built at Zwickau, which Wikipedia's Audi article calls the return of Audi production there after more than 80 years. Batteries run 52 to 77 kWh usable.

That shared base shows in the recalls. Several campaigns cover the ID.4 or other Audis too, so their vehicle counts are not Q4 counts.

2022-2024: charging, cameras and lights

These years hold 57 of the 61 complaints. Electrical is named most on each: 5 of 8 on the 2022, 13 of 27 on the 2023 and 12 of 22 on the 2024. Brakes come next on the 2023 and 2024.

  • 23V842, charging cable (2022-2024). Owners are told to stop using the 220V/240V compact portable cable and charge only with the 110V cable or at public stations. The campaign lists 93,196 vehicles across many Audi models.
  • 24V361, headlights (2022-2024). The wrong headlight control module software may be installed; dealers load a new data set. 17,797 vehicles, Q4 only.
  • 23V189, head curtain air bag (2022-2023). On deployment, the bag can deform the door seal and expose a metal inlay; dealers add cloth tape at the B-pillars. 5,224 vehicles, Q4 only.
  • 25V120, gear display (2022-2023). The dash may not show the gear lever position; dealers update the brake control software. 60,490 vehicles, including the ID.4.
  • 22V823, rearview camera (2022). The image may go blank; dealers replace the camera. 2,607 vehicles across several VW and Audi models.

2025-2026: the 12-volt recall

The 2025 has 4 complaints and the 2026 none so far; both have had little time to collect them. Recall 25V125 covers 2024-2025 cars whose on-board charger can stop charging the 12-volt battery. Dealers replace the unit. Its 13,769 vehicles include the 2024 ID.4. On the 2026, recall 25V638 covers the torsion bar in the front seat belts; dealers replace one or both front belts. It is a 1,042-vehicle campaign spanning several models.

Repair the EV or sell it unrepaired?

  1. Check open recalls at NHTSA's lookup. A 2024-2025 that keeps killing its 12-volt battery may be a 25V125 car.
  2. Battery or charging fault? Get the diagnosis in writing. Our EV battery guide covers how to weigh a pack problem.
  3. Crash damage? The adjuster's valuation tends to settle the question; wrecked or totaled explains how.

Selling a Q4 e-tron whole

  1. Grab the Q4 e-tron's VIN, its mileage and what went wrong.
  2. Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Let us know if the screen lights up, if the gear selector will go to N, and if the 12-volt battery is flat.
  4. Leave the battery pack, charge cable and wheels with it.
  5. Bring the title to pickup. Still financed? Have the lender's name and account number handy. See after you sell for plates and insurance.

Questions people ask

Which Q4 e-tron year has the most NHTSA complaints?
The 2023 leads NHTSA's October 10, 2026 count at 27, ahead of 2024 (22), 2022 (8) and 2025 (4). A 2025 Q4 e-tron is months younger than a 2023, which gives its owners a shorter window to report.
Is my Q4 e-tron in the portable charging cable recall?
Recall 23V842 covers 2022-2024 Q4 e-trons along with several other Audis. Audi's instruction: put away the 220V/240V compact portable charger, and plug in only the 110V cable or a public station. NHTSA's VIN search shows whether yours is listed.
Will you buy a Q4 e-tron that's been in a crash or won't power on?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Describe the damage and the address where it's sitting.
