Selling an old or junk Chrysler Concorde

On the 2000 and 2001 Concorde, more than half of all owner complaints to NHTSA name the engine and its cooling system: 182 of 307 on the 2000 and 88 of 106 on the 2001. The 1999 is close behind at 158 of 333. Across the second generation, 1998-2004, it's 533 of 1,064.

The newest Concorde is a 2004. Is your Concorde dead, or not worth fixing again? We buy whole non-running and junk cars. You sell the whole car as it sits, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.

The two Concordes

Wikipedia dates the first generation to 1993-1997 and the second to 1998-2004. Both sit on Chrysler's LH platform with the engine mounted lengthwise and front-wheel drive. These numbers count what owners told NHTSA up to October 10, 2026. They do not rate reliability. The 2002-2004 cars, the youngest, had the fewest years to collect them.

1993-1997: fuel rails and the front end

The first Concorde was built in Brampton, Ontario, and Newark, Delaware, with a 3.3 L or 3.5 L V6. Wikipedia lists production of 48,326 for 1993 and 70,181 for 1994. These five years hold 1,852 of the Concorde's 2,916 complaints.

The gas fuel system leads the 1993 (75 complaints) and the 1994 (108). Each engine got its own recall:

  • 98V130000 (1993, 3.3L): the O-rings sealing the fuel rail tubes weren't as robust as later ones. Dealers replaced the rail.
  • 98V184000 (1993-1997, 3.5L): fuel could leak from O-rings or hairline cracks in the plastic rail. Its 722,600 count covers other LH cars too.

The front end is the other thread. Recall 99V215000 says the lower control arm brackets on 1993-1995 cars can crack and separate from the engine cradle. Steering leads the 1996 with 92 of 296 complaints. Recall 94V024000 on the 1994 Concorde warns that the right tie rod may wear through the transmission wiring harness and stall the engine.

1998-2004: engine cooling

Wikipedia lists Brampton as the second generation's plant. Wikipedia lists four V6 engines: a 2.7 L, a 3.2 L and two 3.5 L versions. In 2002 a Limited trim added a high-output 3.5 L rated at 250 hp.

From 1998 to 2004, each model year draws more engine and engine cooling complaints than anything else. Recalls on these years are mostly small fixes: seat recliner bolts that can break on 1998-2002 cars (03V035000), and a hood latch part that may be cracked on the 2004 (03V332000). Recall 04V021000, on 1993-1999 cars, says the floor shifter's park interlock can fail; its 2,315,768 vehicles span many models.

NHTSA complaints and recalls by model year

Concorde counts pulled from NHTSA records on October 10, 2026. Campaigns like the floor shifter recall stretch across many years, so the recall column sums past 14.

Fix it, or sell it?

A Concorde is at least 22 model years old, so most repairs are measured against a small number.

  1. Check the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup. A 1993-1997 that smells of gas may never have had its fuel rail work done.
  2. Overheating on a 1998-2004? That's the complaint pattern for these years. Our head gasket and overheating guide explains when it stops being worth it.
  3. Clunks or pulling from the front on a 1993-1996? See broken suspension.
  4. Parked for years? Sitting for years covers what to check first.

Selling a Concorde whole

  1. Write down the VIN, mileage and the main fault, and whether the tires still hold air.
  2. Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Say where it sits, whether that's a driveway, a backyard or a garage. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
  4. Leave it complete. Tell us about anything already removed.
  5. Find the title. With a Concorde this old, tracking down the title is often the tricky step. If it's lost, start with selling with no title.

Questions people ask

Which Concorde years have the most NHTSA complaints?
The 1994, with 672 as of October 10, 2026. Then the 1995 (367), the 1999 (333), the 2000 (307) and the 1993 (304). They count owner reports, not reliability.
What was the fuel rail recall on the Concorde?
Two campaigns. Recall 98V130000 replaced the fuel rail on 1993 cars with the 3.3L engine, whose O-rings were less robust than later ones. Recall 98V184000 covered 1993-1997 cars with the 3.5L, where the rail could leak from O-rings or hairline cracks. Both counts cover other models too.
Will you buy a Concorde that has sat for years?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, including ones parked for a long time. Pickup is free anywhere in the US. Tell us if the tires are flat.
