Selling a dead or junk Chrysler Pacifica
The Pacifica name has been on two different vehicles. Wikipedia says it was a mid-size crossover from 2004 to 2008, and since the 2017 model year it has been the minivan that replaced the Town & Country. In NHTSA's complaint file, the crossover years hold 3,348 complaints and the minivan years 4,327.

Complaints and recalls by model year
Every number here is an owner complaint to NHTSA, counted up to October 10, 2026. None of them rates reliability. The 2024-2027 vans are recent, so their totals have had little time to build. Pacifica campaigns overlap model years, which is why the recall figures sum to far more than 51.

The crossover years: 2004-2008
NHTSA's structure category leads the complaints on the 2004, 2005 and 2006: 251, 308 and 163. The 2005 is the busiest crossover year at 1,244 complaints, and engine complaints run close behind structure, with 162 under engine and engine cooling and 161 under engine. On the 2004, 30 complaints report a fire.
Recall 06V432000 covers 2005-2006 models. The fuel pump module and the powertrain control module software can let the engine stall. Dealers reprogram the module, and some vehicles also get a new fuel pump module. The 127,928 count is for the whole campaign, which names passenger vehicles in general and may include other models.
The minivan years: 2017 on
The first minivan year, 2017, has the most complaints of any Pacifica: 1,605. Engine leads at 357, then the electrical system at 324 and power train at 280. The 2018 follows with 1,101, led by engine (287) and electrical (271).
Two recalls on these years deal with stalling:
- 18V049000 (2017, 3.6L engine): the engine software can fall out of sync with the crankshaft position sensor, and the engine can stall. Dealers update the software.
- 19V348000 (2017-2019 with stop/start): a loose battery ground can cause a stall or a loss of power steering assist. Dealers inspect and clean the ground connection.
The 2022-2026 vans have their own air bag campaigns. Recalls 25V302000 and 26V189000 say the side curtain air bags may not hold pressure. Both campaigns include the Voyager, so their counts (250,651 and 293,264) are not Pacifica-only.
Plug-in hybrid fire recalls
The Pacifica Hybrid has a run of recalls tied to fire risk while parked. Each of them tells owners to park the van outside, away from garages and homes, until a dealer makes the repair:
- 22V077000 (2017-2018): a fire can start while parked, even with the ignition off. Owners were told not to recharge.
- 24V536000 (2017-2018): covers vans that already got the 22V-077 software fix. The battery pack can still catch fire.
- 24V538000 (2019-2021) and 26V362000 (2020-2022): the battery pack may cause a fire while parked.
- 23V753000 (2023): a 12-volt battery isolator post installed wrong can short out. It covers 32 vehicles.
Recall 23V010000 is different: on 2017-2023 plug-in hybrids, a wiring connector inside the transmission can short and shut the engine off.
Keep it or let it go?
- Check the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup. On a Pacifica Hybrid, the fire recalls come first, and the dealer remedy is free.
- High-voltage battery trouble? Our hybrid battery guide explains how to weigh that repair against the van's value.
- Engine gone on a crossover or a 2017-2018 minivan? See blown engine before paying for a teardown.
- Already had a fire? Fire damage covers what to expect.
When a quote tops what a running Pacifica of that year brings, the repair rarely pays back.
How to sell your Pacifica whole
- Have the VIN ready, along with the mileage and what's wrong. Say whether it's the crossover or the minivan, and gas or plug-in hybrid.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Tell us about an open park-outside recall. A Hybrid with one should stay outdoors and unplugged. Let us know its spot and the truck will pick it up right there. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
- Leave it whole, battery pack and seats included. Tell us about anything already pulled.
- The driver collects the title and keys when the van is loaded. Plates and insurance rules are in after you sell. Still owe on it? See selling with a loan.

Questions people ask
- Which Pacifica years have the most NHTSA complaints?
- As of October 10, 2026, the 2017 Pacifica minivan leads with 1,605. Next come the 2005 crossover (1,244), the 2018 (1,101) and the 2004 (896). A 2024 or 2025 is still new, so a low count for it doesn't tell you much so far.
- My Pacifica Hybrid has a park-outside recall. Can I still sell it?
- Yes. A few plug-in hybrid recalls tell owners not to charge it and to park the van outside, away from buildings, until the dealer fixes it. Mention the recall in your offer request, and the pickup gets planned around a van parked outdoors.
- Is a 2006 Pacifica the same vehicle as a 2018?
- No. Wikipedia says the name was used on a mid-size crossover from 2004 to 2008, and since the 2017 model year on the minivan that replaced the Town & Country.
- Do you buy Pacificas that won't run?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, crossover or minivan, gas or plug-in hybrid. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
