2013-2014 V6: 15 years, any mileage

If yours is a 2013 or 2014 V6 with heavy steering, call a Honda dealer before you sell. Honda covers the power steering control unit on those cars for 15 years.

An Accord with a sloping roof

The Crosstour was a sloping-roof crossover built on the eighth-generation Accord platform at East Liberty, Ohio. Early cars carried the name Accord Crosstour. Production ran from September 2009 to August 31, 2015, covering the 2010 through 2015 model years.

Two engines were offered: a 2.4-liter four and a 3.5-liter V6. Honda showed a restyled version at the New York auto show on April 4, 2012, and the 2013 refresh brought a re-engineered V6 with a 6-speed automatic and Variable Cylinder Management, which can shut off cylinders. The 2013 four made 192 hp with a 5-speed automatic. Real Time 4WD was available on the EX-L V6.

The car never drew many complaints. NHTSA's files hold 162 across six model years, with 5 crashes, 2 fires and 11 injuries reported. Electrical problems lead (30), then power train (23), steering (22) and engine (18).

Heavy steering on 2013-2014 V6 cars

Steering complaints cluster on one year: 20 of the 22 are on the 2013. In July 2019 Honda extended coverage on the electric power steering (EPS) control unit of 2013-2014 Crosstour V6s to 15 years from the day the car was first sold, however many miles it has. Honda's bulletin says the steering can feel heavier than normal. The EPS light may blink with no stored code, or stay on with code 32-08, 32-09 or 61-04.

Even the earliest 2013 cars are inside that 15-year window until about 2027. The extension does not cover a car ever declared a total loss, sold for salvage or given a branded title, so ask before an insurer brands yours.

We can't tell you that every 2013 steering complaint comes from this part. The extension is for V6 cars, and NHTSA's counts don't say which engine each complaint was about.

Air bags: all five recalls

Every Crosstour recall on file is for an air bag:

  • Side curtain inflators. Recall 12V-030 covered 347 Accords and Crosstours from 2012 whose curtain inflators may not have been made to spec, so the curtain might not deploy. Recall 14V-788 covered 1,252 Crosstours from 2015, built in fall 2014, with a curtain inflator tube that may have been made wrong. In both, dealers replaced the curtain air bags as needed.
  • Passenger frontal inflators. Recall 18V-661 names 2014-2015 Crosstours nationwide. NHTSA's data file lists model years 2010-2015 under it, so check your VIN. Its inflators can explode and throw sharp metal fragments at people in the car. Recalls 19V-378 (2010-2014 cars, inflators that may have been installed wrong) and 19V-502 (2012-2015) are later campaigns on the passenger-side inflator.

A car with an open air bag recall is worth a free dealer visit before you sell, if it can still be driven there safely.

Complaints and recalls by model year

Complaints were filed with NHTSA and counted on October 10, 2026. A recall campaign can cover several years, so the yearly figures add to more than five.

Worth fixing?

Crosstours are now 11 to 16 model years old, and a major repair on one may exceed its value in running condition. Weigh the quote against recent sale prices for working Crosstours like yours.

  1. Run the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls for open air bag work.
  2. Heavy steering on a 2013-2014 V6? Ask a Honda dealer about the EPS extension first.
  3. Won't start at all? Our non-running car guide covers the options, and what a junk car is worth explains what shapes an offer.

Selling a Crosstour whole

  1. Gather the VIN, the mileage and the problem, and whether it's a four or a V6.
  2. Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Tell us where it sits, in a garage, a driveway or a shop lot, and whether it rolls. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
  4. Leave it in one piece. If something has been pulled off already, say what, because it affects the offer.
  5. Pickup day: the signed title and a photo ID finish it. Plates follow your state's rules; after you sell lists them.

Questions people ask

Which Crosstour year has the most complaints?
The 2013 has 49 in NHTSA's files, counted October 10, 2026, and 20 of those name the steering. The 2012 has 32, the 2014 has 31, the 2015 has 26 and the 2010 has 22. Only two are on file for the 2011.
My 2013 or 2014 Crosstour V6 steers heavy and the EPS light blinks. Is it covered?
Quite possibly. A 2019 Honda warranty extension covers the electric power steering control unit on 2013-2014 Crosstour V6s for 15 years after each car was first bought, with unlimited miles. Signs include heavy steering and an EPS light that blinks, or stays on with codes 32-08, 32-09 or 61-04. A car with a salvage or branded title, or one an insurer has totaled, is left out.
Was the Crosstour an Accord?
Close to one. It was built at East Liberty, Ohio on the eighth-generation Accord platform, and early cars were sold as the Accord Crosstour. Honda called it a mid-size crossover and stopped building it on August 31, 2015.
Will you buy a Crosstour that doesn't run?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. You sell the whole car as it sits, with no parts to strip first.
