Selling a junk or broken Infiniti QX60
Two launch years carry most of the QX60's record. The 2013, sold that year as the Infiniti JX35, has 280 owner complaints with NHTSA, and the 2014 has 230. That's 510 of the 903 on file as of October 10, 2026, for a model sold from 2013 to today.

Complaints and recalls, year by year
We counted complaints for the QX60 and JX35 from NHTSA's public data on October 10, 2026. There are none for a 2021 model year. A recall campaign often spans more than one QX60 year.
| Model year | Complaints | Injuries reported | Recall campaigns | Component named most |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2013 (JX35) | 280 | 7 | 7 | Air bags (85) |
| 2014 | 230 | 1 | 8 | Power train (95) |

| 2027 | 3 | 0 | 0 | Unknown or other (2) |
The first generation (2013-2020) has 803 complaints and the second (2022 on) has 100. Recent QX60s simply haven't been driven long enough to gather as many.
First generation, 2013-2020
Wikipedia lists this QX60 as the L50, built in Smyrna, Tennessee, on the same platform family as the Nissan Pathfinder. It used a 3.5-liter V6 (the VQ35DE, later the direct-injected VQ35DD) or a gasoline hybrid, and every one has a CVT.
Power train complaints on the early cars
Across all QX60 years, owners filed 222 complaints under power train, more than under any other component. Of those, 187 sit on the 2013 to 2015 (69, 95 and 23). On these years the power train is a CVT. If yours shudders, slips or won't pull, our failing CVT guide walks through what to check.
Air bag sensor recalls
The 2013 has 85 complaints filed under air bags, more than under any other component that year. Four campaigns dealt with the passenger occupant sensing system on early cars: 13V069 (sensors made out of specification), 14V138 and 15V681 (OCS software updates), and 16V244 (air bag control unit reprogramming). Their vehicle counts run from 919 to 3,296,947, and each campaign spans other Nissan and Infiniti models, so none of those numbers is QX60s alone.
ABS recalls with a park-outside warning
Recalls 18V601 (2017) and 19V807 (2017-2019) are marked PARK OUTSIDE. They cover the anti-lock brake actuator pump. Wikipedia says a faulty pump seal could leak brake fluid and lead to a fire if the ABS warning light is ignored, and that owners were told to park in open spaces as soon as that light comes on. The two campaigns counted 215,124 and 391,479 vehicles, including Muranos, Maximas and Pathfinders. An earlier campaign, 13V445, had dealers reprogram the ABS on 2013-2014 cars.
Other first-generation recalls
- 12V398: on 2013 JX35s built February 15 to June 22, 2012, the fuel transfer tube may be misrouted inside the tank. 7,842 vehicles.
- 15V033: the hood release on 2013-2014 cars, in a 170,665-vehicle campaign led by the Pathfinder.
- 21V774: hybrid powertrain control software that may shut down, on 2014-2017 QX60 Hybrids. The 7,634 vehicles include Pathfinder and Murano hybrids. Infiniti dropped the hybrid after the 2017 model year.
- 21V402: some 2020 QX60s may have a bad front steering knuckle or rear axle housing. The 14,276-vehicle campaign also includes the Murano, GT-R, QX50 and Q50.
Second generation, 2022 on
Production started in October 2021. Wikipedia lists a 2.0-liter KR20DDET turbo four or the 3.5-liter VQ35DD V6, with a 9-speed ZF automatic in place of the CVT.
The second-generation recalls so far include:
- 23V814: at certain high speeds the adaptive front lighting may aim the headlights down, on 2022-2024 QX60s. This campaign names only the QX60: 20,051 vehicles.
- 23V268: the driver's power seat may not be fully secured to its frame (2023; 12,400 vehicles with Rogues and Pathfinders).
- 24V176: a lap belt pretensioner missing a rivet (2024; 12,019 vehicles with Pathfinders).
- 25V173: front brake calipers with reduced strength (2025; 1,430 vehicles with Muranos and Pathfinders).
Fix it or sell it?
Line up the repair estimate with the going price for a running QX60 of that year. When the quote gets near that number, selling it as it sits usually wins.
- Look up open recalls by VIN at NHTSA. The ABS actuator recall is the one to check first on a 2017-2019.
- CVT gone on a 2013-2020? Get a written quote, then compare. Our guide on repairs that cost more than the car shows how to run the numbers.

Selling your QX60 whole
- Have ready your QX60's VIN, mileage, its drive type (front or all-wheel), and the problem.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Say where the QX60 is parked. A stuck three-row SUV needs a fitting truck, so tell us if it moves and if its brakes or steering are locked.
- Leave it whole. Keep the wheels, the third-row seats and the catalytic converters on. Anything already pulled changes the offer.
- On pickup day, keep the QX60's title and your ID handy. See after you sell for plates and insurance.

Questions people ask
- Which QX60 years have the most NHTSA complaints?
- As of October 10, 2026, the 2013 (badged JX35) has 280 and the 2014 has 230. Then comes the 2015 at 95. Second-generation QX60s from 2022 on have 100 between them, but they have also had far less time to collect complaints.
- What is the QX60 ABS recall that says to park outside?
- Recalls 18V601 (2017) and 19V807 (2017-2019) cover the anti-lock brake actuator pump. Wikipedia reports that owners were told to park in open spaces, away from garages and buildings, as soon as the ABS warning light comes on. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
- Does the second-generation QX60 have a CVT?
- No. Per Wikipedia, a 2022-on QX60 has either a 3.5-liter V6 or a 2.0-liter turbo four, and each one drives through a 9-speed ZF automatic. The CVT belongs to the 2013-2020 first generation.
- Will you buy a QX60 with a slipping transmission?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Tell us whether the QX60 still drives at all.
