Selling a damaged or dead Jaguar F-Type
The F-Type has 14 recall campaigns against just 36 owner complaints to NHTSA. Among the 11 Jaguar models on this site, only the E-Pace has fewer complaints. Many of those recalls are small: four of them cover 23 vehicles or fewer.

The car in brief
Wikipedia describes the F-Type (X152) as a two-door, two-seat sports car built at Castle Bromwich from December 2012 to June 2024. By the end, 87,731 had been made. The convertible ran 2013-2023, the coupe 2014-2023, and the SVR 2016-2020, with 1,875 SVRs built. Engines were a 2.0-liter Ingenium turbo four, a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 and a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed ZF automatic. A restyled version was unveiled in December 2019. EPA lists 2014-2024.
2014-2016: seat belt wiring and one-off recalls
The 2014 and 2015 share the F-Type's most repeated recall. Recall 14V714 corrected the seat belt harness connector wiring on 7,079 cars. Recall 19V326 went back to cars already fixed under 14V714 to inspect the seat belt tension sensor harness; it lists 7,060 vehicles and links to the air bag occupant sensing system. The 2015 also has 14V673, which checks engine-mounted parts for proper threading; its 272 vehicles include XFs and XJs.
The 2016 has the most complaints of any year, 11, led by power train and stability control (2 each). Its only recall, 15V569, was for one car whose power steering was still in the supplier's factory mode.
2017-2020: SVR bolts and smaller fixes
Recall 16V789 replaced the bolt joining the rear lower control arm to the knuckle on 23 SVRs built in 2016. Recall 16V940 checked front seat belt pretensioners; its 2,394 vehicles include 2017 XEs. The 2018 has 8 complaints and three recalls: a turn signal reminder update (17V341, 19 vehicles), 2.0-liter fuel rails whose end caps may leak (18V090, a 10,073-vehicle campaign across five Jaguars), and one car whose instrument panel could tear the passenger air bag (21V500).
On 2019-2020 cars, recall 19V682 replaced a door label showing the wrong rear tire size. Recall 21V167 updated 2020 software so the ABS startup check finishes in time. Recall 19V039 replaced a crankshaft pulley bolt on 2019 V6 and V8 cars.
Complaints and recalls by model year
NHTSA owner filings for each F-Type year, tallied October 10, 2026.

|---|---|---|---|
| 2014 | 2 | 2 | Air bags, engine |
| 2015 | 6 | 3 | Engine 2, structure 2 |
| 2016 | 11 | 1 | Power train 2, stability control 2 |
| 2017 | 2 | 2 | Engine, fuel/propulsion |
| 2018 | 8 | 3 | Electrical 2, exterior lighting 2 |
| 2019 | 3 | 2 | Power train 2 |
| 2020 | 4 | 2 | Brakes, power train, steering |
The 2021-2024 rows would be empty. Those F-Types are still young, so their owners have had only a short stretch to file reports. Recalls 21V667 (seat belt retractors) and 22V524 (pretensioners) list 2021-2022 F-Types; both campaigns include F-Paces and XFs.
Worth fixing?
Check open recalls at NHTSA first; the dealer does the recall repair. Our open recall guide covers selling with one still open. After a wreck, compare the body shop quote with what a clean F-Type of your year and engine sells for. Wrecked or totaled walks through it.
Selling it
Ask online or call (877) 421-6008. Tell us the year, engine, coupe or convertible, and what's wrong. An F-Type sits low and may need a flatbed, so tell us if it rolls and how near a truck can park. Leave it whole. Bring the title and ID to pickup.
