Selling a broken or junk Jaguar F-Pace

Nearly half of all F-Pace complaints belong to a single model year. NHTSA holds 137 owner complaints on the F-Pace, and 63 of them are for the 2017, the first year in EPA data. Twenty-nine of those 63 name the engine.

What you're working with

Wikipedia lists the F-Pace as a compact luxury crossover SUV, built by Jaguar Land Rover at Solihull in the UK from February 2016 to December 2025. It rides on the JLR D7a platform, shared with the XE, the XF and the Range Rover Velar. Gas engines were a 2.0-liter Ingenium four, a 3.0-liter Ingenium six with mild hybrid, and the 3.0-liter AJ126 V6, and Wikipedia's gearbox list for it reads 6-speed manual and 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic. EPA lists it from 2017 to 2026, including the SVR and the P340 and P400 mild hybrids.

Wikipedia's lines give no generation split, so the sections below group the EPA years by what the NHTSA data shows.

2017-2018: engine complaints and the instrument cluster recalls

The 2017 carries 63 complaints: 29 name the engine, 9 the electrical system and 3 visibility or wipers. Owners reported 3 crashes, 2 fires and 2 injuries on that year.

Four recall campaigns cover the 2017. Recall 17V153 checked for a rear driveshaft built too short (25 vehicles). Recall 17V491 was for a single 3.0-liter F-Pace with a fuel pump bolt that may be too long. Two more, 17V678 and 18V052, fix an instrument cluster that can go blank with a software update. The 7,036 vehicles in 17V678 include the XF, XJ and XE too; 18V052, at 3,002 vehicles, names only the 2017-2018 F-Pace.

The 2018 has 31 complaints, led by electrical (6) and steering (6), with 8 injuries reported. It adds recall 18V090: fuel rail end caps on the 2.0-liter gas engine may leak. That campaign's 10,073 vehicles span the 2018 XE, XF, E-Pace, F-Pace and F-Type.

2019-2020: fewer complaints, one death reported

The 2019 has 17 complaints, but 5 report a crash, 4 an injury and 1 a death. Engine (5) and engine cooling (3) lead. Recall 19V039 replaces a crankshaft pulley bolt on V6 and V8 cars; its 443 vehicles include the F-Type and XJ. Recall 21V118 updates software so the cluster shows when auto high beams are on.

The 2020 has 14 complaints, split between electrical, seat belts and "unknown or other" at 3 each. Recall 21V667 covers seat belt retractors that may stop locking early, which can affect a child seat. Its 5,146 vehicles include F-Types and XFs.

2021 and newer: recalls outnumber complaints

From 2021 on, owners have filed just 12 complaints across three model years. A 2023 F-Pace has seen far fewer years of driving than a 2017, so its count is naturally smaller. Recalls keep coming, though. Recall 24V451 swaps the oil filter housing on 2021-2024 cars, because it can crack and let oil into the engine bay. Recall 23V045 fixes a blocked cam carrier oil channel on the 2023. Recall 22V525 swaps tail lights that make the rear turn signals work wrong on 2021-2022 cars.

Two DC/DC converter recalls, 26V248 and 26V599, list 2021-2024 F-Paces. Their counts of 170,169 and 23,677 vehicles cover many Land Rover models too, so they are not F-Pace numbers.

Complaints and recalls by model year

NHTSA records dated October 10, 2026 give these F-Pace counts. Recall 24V451 covers 2021-2024, so it appears in every one of those year rows.

No complaints are on file for the 2024-2026. Recall 24V677 (surround camera module, 2024) and 25V705 (gear shift module, 2026) are listed for those years.

Fix it or sell it?

Start with recalls. Put your VIN into NHTSA's lookup. An oil leak on a 2021-2024 could be the filter housing in 24V451, which a dealer replaces free.

Then weigh the quote against what the F-Pace would sell for running. The engine shows up in 29 of the 2017's 63 NHTSA complaints; if yours has an engine problem, the blown engine guide covers how to weigh it. A blank dash or other electrical trouble is covered in electrical problems. If the quote is close to the running value or above it, selling as is usually wins.

Selling your F-Pace whole

  1. Have the VIN handy, plus the mileage, the engine (2.0, V6 or six) and the symptoms.
  2. Ask for an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Describe the spot it's in. If the battery is flat and the SUV won't come out of Park, mention it; that decides which truck gets sent.
  4. Leave it whole, wheels and battery included. Tell us about anything already pulled.
  5. Give our driver the F-Pace title and keys, and show your ID. What happens to your F-Pace plates is up to your state: after you sell.

No title? Start with selling with no title. Other Jaguars: the E-Pace, the I-Pace, or every Jaguar we cover.

Questions people ask

Which F-Pace model year has the most NHTSA complaints?
The 2017, with 63 of the F-Pace's 137 complaints as of October 10, 2026. Twenty-nine of those 63 name the engine. The 2018 is next with 31. A 2022 or 2023 F-Pace hasn't been out long enough to pile up complaints, so its small number isn't the whole picture.
My 2021-2024 F-Pace is in the DC/DC converter recall. Does the 170,169 figure mean that many F-Paces?
No. Recall 26V248 lists 170,169 vehicles for the whole campaign, and the campaign covers several Land Rover models as well as the F-Pace. The same goes for 26V599 (23,677 vehicles). Both are fixed with software that dealers load at no charge. Check whether that F-Pace work is still open by entering the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Will you buy an F-Pace whose engine has quit?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. For your F-Pace, mention its engine, whether it rolls, and the address it's parked at.
Do I need to strip the wheels or battery off my F-Pace first?
No. You sell the whole car as it sits. Already pulled something off it? Mention that up front, since what's missing changes the number.
