The 2022-2026 Grand Wagoneer

Wikipedia's article on this generation (WS) says it is built at Warren Truck Assembly in Michigan and was designed by Ralph Gilles. It is a body-on-frame SUV related to the Ram 1500 (DT). Engines are the 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo six and, on the Grand Wagoneer from 2021 to 2024, the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, with an 8-speed ZF automatic. The wheelbase is 123.0 inches, or 130.0 on the long L. For 2026 the trims were renamed and the separate Wagoneer line was dropped.

The electrical system is the top complaint on 2022, 2023 and 2024 (16, 11 and 15). The 2022 also has 7 structure complaints, and the 2023 has 9 engine and 6 seat complaints. The 2025 has 3 and the 2026 has 4; those SUVs have spent very little time on the road for owners to report anything.

Almost every recent recall is shared with the Wagoneer, and several with Grand Cherokees and Ram trucks, so the vehicle counts below are whole campaigns:

Rear camera software was also the subject of 23V577, 24V436 and 24V944, and 24V199 covers the steering column control module on 2023-2024 models.

The older Grand Wagoneers

The photo at the top is a 1986 Grand Wagoneer (SJ). The WS article names the Jeep Wagoneer (SJ) as the new model's predecessor. NHTSA's file holds complaints on Grand Wagoneers from 1984 to 1999, and none of those years has more than 9.

Recall 87V178 covered 1984-1988 models: a key-operated tailgate window could keep closing if the spring-loaded key didn't return to off. The 1993 has 8 complaints and 6 recall campaigns, including 93V051 (front suspension cam bolts), 93V055 (a liftgate latch swollen by assembly grease) and 93V210 (a plastic pin in the steering column that may have sheared). Recall 99V340 replaced brake rotors on 1993-1995 vehicles sold or registered in a list of states such as Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Indiana, and 02V053 added a detent to the floor shifter on 1993-1998 SUVs that could roll backward if not fully in Park. That last campaign counts 1,620,000 vehicles across several SUVs.

Worth fixing?

  1. On a 2022 or newer, check the VIN at NHTSA's lookup. Many of these recalls are software or trim jobs a dealer does for free.
  2. Electrical trouble is the leading complaint. Electrical problems helps you judge how deep it goes.
  3. On an older one that has been parked for years, read sitting for years before you sink money into it.
  4. Compare the repair quote with what the Grand Wagoneer would bring running. If the quote comes close, selling it unrepaired makes sense.

Selling one whole

  1. Have the details: year, standard or long L, engine, mileage and what's wrong.
  2. Ask for an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Explain the parking situation and whether it moves. This is a long, heavy SUV, so mention tight driveways or garages. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
  4. Keep it whole, wheels and trim included.
  5. Show your ID and sign over the title when the truck comes. For plates afterward, see after you sell.

Questions people ask

Which Grand Wagoneer year has the most NHTSA complaints?
The 2022, with 61 as of October 10, 2026. The 2023 has 49 and the 2024 has 35. Recent model years have been in owners' hands for less time. Among the older years, the 1999 has the most, 9.
Do Wagoneer recalls also apply to my Grand Wagoneer?
Often, yes. Most 2022-2025 campaigns, such as the door trim (25V593), quarter window trim (25V642) and roof rack bolts (26V584), cover both. Their vehicle counts are for the whole campaign, not Grand Wagoneers alone. A VIN lookup on nhtsa.gov/recalls tells you which apply to your SUV.
Will you buy an old Grand Wagoneer that hasn't run in years?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and you sell the whole car as it sits. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
