Selling a wrecked or dead Jeep Recon
Owners have filed zero complaints about the Jeep Recon. NHTSA's complaint file, as we downloaded it on October 10, 2026, shows none, and the agency lists no recall campaigns for it either. That's not a verdict on the car. The Recon has one model year, 2026, so it has had almost no time on the road to collect complaints.

So if your Recon is sitting dead or bent, the cause is more likely a crash, flood, fire or a fault nobody has reported yet than a known pattern. Either way, you can sell it whole. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US.
What the Recon is
The Recon is Jeep's battery-electric SUV. Wikipedia lists it as a mid-size SUV with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout, built in Toluca, Mexico, on Stellantis' STLA Large platform. The wheelbase is 113 inches (2,868 mm). Wikipedia names the Wagoneer S and the Cherokee (KM) as related models.
The EPA puts it in a different box. Its fuel economy file classes the Recon as a small sport utility vehicle and lists one version: the Recon MOAB 4WD.
The record so far, by model year

A zero this early means little. Older Jeeps such as the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee built their complaint counts over many years of owners driving them. Recalls can also be added after a car is built. Put your VIN into NHTSA's recall lookup before you decide anything, and see open recall if one turns up.
Repair it or sell it?
On a car this new, start with whoever already owes you something.
- Hit by another car, or off the trail too hard? With an insurance claim open, look at insurer totaled it and keep the check, sell unrepaired before you sign anything.
- Won't power on or charge? Ask a Jeep dealer to diagnose it and tell you what the factory coverage includes. A failed pack is its own decision; EV battery failed walks through it.
- Still owe on it? Financed or leased? See still owe on the loan or leased car, because the lender has a say in the sale.
- Flooded or burned? If it sat in water or caught fire, see flood damage or fire damage.
Selling your Recon whole
- Gather the basics: VIN, odometer reading, a short note on the damage, and if it will roll in Neutral.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Say where it is: a driveway, a body shop lot, a storage yard. Note whether the wheels turn and whether the car can be shifted out of Park, so we send a truck that fits the job.
- Leave it whole. Don't pull the battery, the motors or the wheels.
- At pickup, have the title or the lender's release and a photo ID. After you sell covers plates and insurance.

Questions people ask
- Does the Jeep Recon have any NHTSA complaints or recalls?
- Not yet. NHTSA's complaint file showed zero Recon complaints when we downloaded it on October 10, 2026, and no recall campaigns are listed. The only model year is 2026, so it has had very little time to collect any. Recalls get added later, so run the VIN through NHTSA's lookup every so often.
- Is the Jeep Recon a small or a mid-size SUV?
- It depends on who is counting. The EPA's fuel economy file lists it as a small sport utility vehicle. Wikipedia calls it a mid-size SUV with a 113-inch wheelbase, built on Stellantis' STLA Large platform.
- Will you buy a crashed Recon, or one that is dead?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, including electric ones. You sell the whole car as it sits, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Describe the damage, say if the Recon can be pushed, and give the address where it sits.
- Should I take parts off my Recon before selling it?
- No. Leave the battery pack, the motors, the wheels and the trim where they are. If the pack or a motor has already been pulled, list what's gone when you ask.
