Selling a damaged or non-running Lexus LC
Owners have filed only 14 complaints with NHTSA about the Lexus LC, and half are on the first model year, 2018. The recall list is longer than most years' complaint counts: six campaigns. If your LC is damaged or won't run, the recalls are worth checking first. After that, you can sell the whole car as it sits.

Two powertrains, one plant
Wikipedia says the LC is built at Toyota's Motomachi plant, where the LFA was made, and that many of the LFA's craftsmen moved on to the LC's carbon fiber parts, leatherwork and paint. The LC 500 uses a 5.0-liter 2UR-GSE V8 with a 10-speed automatic. The LC 500h pairs a 3.5-liter V6 with a hybrid system and a lithium-ion battery. EPA also lists an LC 500 Convertible.
Recalls, grouped by what they fix
Fuel pumps, 2018-2020. Recall 18V107 replaced both high-pressure fuel pumps on 2018 LC 500s with the V8, a 9,905-vehicle campaign shared with the GS F and RC F. Recalls 20V012 and 20V682 swapped fuel pumps on a long roster that runs from 4Runners and Camrys to the LS 500 and LX 570, so their 1,830,752 and 1,525,742 totals belong to all of them.
Brakes, 2019. Recall 19V544 had dealers inspect the brake booster pump on certain 2019 LC 500s and replace it if needed. Its 6,925 vehicles include several other Lexus and Toyota models.
Parking camera, 2024-2025. Recalls 24V124 and 25V744 both update Panoramic View Monitor software. Those two cover 18,616 and 1,024,407 vehicles, spread over lots of models.
Complaints and recalls by model year
Owner complaints in NHTSA's records, October 10, 2026.
| Model year | Complaints | Recall campaigns | Components named |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 7 | 3 | Unknown or other 4, fuel/propulsion 2, structure 1 |
| 2020 | 1 | 1 | Engine 1 |
| 2021 | 3 | 0 | Exterior lighting, fuel/propulsion, electrical (1 each) |
| 2024 | 3 | 2 | Structure 2, unknown or other 1 |
Every other LC year is blank. Not one of the 14 mentions a crash, fire, injury or tow. The latest LC coupes just haven't been around long enough for many owner reports.
Repair or sell
Before paying for a fuel system diagnosis, look the car up on NHTSA's recall page. For crash damage, the insurer's estimate is the number to weigh, and our wrecked car guide covers what comes next. On an LC 500h with a hybrid warning, see hybrid battery failed.
Selling the LC whole
Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008 with the VIN, mileage and what's wrong. Tell us where it's parked and how low it sits. A flatbed handles a low coupe; the driver just needs to know ahead of time. Keep the LC in one piece, with its title, keys and a photo ID close by.
Questions people ask
- Does the Lexus LC have many NHTSA complaints?
- Very few: 14 across every model year as of October 10, 2026, and 7 of them are on the 2018. None report a crash, fire, injury or tow. The newest LCs also haven't been driven long enough to build up many.
- Which LC recalls involve the fuel pump?
- Three: 18V107 (high-pressure pumps on the 2018 LC 500 V8), 20V012 (2018-2019) and 20V682 (2018-2020). The pump swap is free at a Lexus dealer, and NHTSA's VIN search shows if yours was done.
- Will you buy an LC with crash damage or a dead hybrid system?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Tell us whether it's the LC 500, the convertible or the LC 500h, and what's wrong.
