Selling a wrecked or damaged Lexus LFA

NHTSA's complaint file holds no complaints about the Lexus LFA, and the car has a single recall. If yours was crashed, flooded or has sat too long, you can still sell the whole car as it sits.

A two-year production run

Wikipedia dates LFA production from December 2010 to December 2012 at the Motomachi plant in Toyota City, and EPA lists it as a 2012 two-seater only. When production ended, no successor was scheduled. The engine is a 4.8-liter 1LR-GUE V10, mounted behind the front axle and driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed Aisin automated manual. Wikipedia notes that Yamaha co-developed the whole engine, not just the cylinder heads.

The one recall

Recall 17V006, reported January 9, 2017, covers the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator on certain 2012 models. The 577,875 vehicles in the campaign are almost all other cars: the 4Runner, Corolla, Sienna, Yaris, Scion xB and several Lexus models. The LFA is a small share. If the service records don't mention the inflator, NHTSA's VIN search will say whether it's still open.

Repair it or sell it

Parts are the hard question on a car whose production ended in December 2012. Wikipedia says the LFA plant at Motomachi kept making parts with a small team after production ended. Ask a Lexus dealer what is still available for the damage you have before you commit to a rebuild. If an insurer has already totaled it, see wrecked or totaled for how the title and payout work.

Selling the LFA whole

  1. Note the LFA's VIN, its mileage and what happened to it.
  2. Ask for an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Tell us exactly where it's stored and whether it rolls. A low mid-engine coupe goes on a flatbed, and the driver plans the loading around it.
  4. Keep every part with the car, including anything removed after the damage.
  5. When the LFA is collected, keep its title and a photo ID close.

Questions people ask

Does the Lexus LFA have a recall?
One. Recall 17V006 replaced the passenger frontal air bag inflator on certain 2012 Toyota, Scion and Lexus models, the LFA among them. An LFA's VIN entered at nhtsa.gov/recalls shows whether the inflator was replaced.
Are there NHTSA complaints about the LFA?
NHTSA's complaint file, as counted on October 10, 2026, holds none for the LFA.
Will you buy an LFA that was in a crash or a flood?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, including badly damaged ones, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. Describe the damage and where the car is stored.
