The photo shows a 2006 A150 hatchback, a second-generation car. The A-Class models in EPA data are the A220, A220 4matic and AMG A35 4matic. Wikipedia places them in the fourth generation (W177), built from April 2018 on the MFA2 platform, the first to offer a sedan.

Recalls that name only the 2019 A220

  • 19V314: improper welding could let the brake pedal plate bend and impair the brake pedal. Dealers inspect the welds and replace the pedal as necessary. 1,051 cars.
  • 20V416: the air conditioning drain hose may not be installed properly, letting water into the foot wells and the center of the car. 3,615 cars.
  • 20V046: the rearview camera image could be delayed. 22 cars.
  • 20V753: labels such as the tire pressure label may be missing. 26 cars.

Recalls shared with other Mercedes models

These campaign counts include CLA, GLA, GLB, C-Class and other cars, so they are not A-Class numbers.

  • 21V990 (2019-2020): corrosion can hit the integral carrier holding up the front axle; a dealer checks it and puts in a new one when needed.
  • 19V685 (2019-2020): driver's front air bag modules to be inspected and replaced as necessary.
  • 23V732 (2019-2020): a missing brake pad wear inspection gauge.
  • 21V034 (2021): a child seat anchor bar that may be missing on the right rear seat.
  • 23V662 (2022): headlights that may be aimed wrong.
  • 26V481 (2019-2022): a new driver's door lock, with owner letters expected September 18, 2026.

Six more cover software and parts on many Mercedes lines: emergency call (21V058, 22V365), the rearview camera (21V354, 22V232), LED headlights (21V509) and the fuel rail and injectors (21V961).

Complaints and recalls by year

Source: NHTSA records, October 10, 2026. Newer A-Class cars have had less time on the road. A recall is listed in each A-Class year it covers.

Fix it or sell it?

Run the VIN at NHTSA's lookup first; the recall notices say dealer repairs are free of charge. For an engine warning, the check engine light guide covers what to ask. Next, hold the repair price up against what a same-year A220 that runs sells for.

Selling an A-Class whole

  1. Have the VIN, mileage and title ready.
  2. Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Say where your A-Class is and if it rolls. The truck meets the car there.
  4. Leave it whole, and tell us about anything already removed. Plates and insurance afterward: after you sell.

Questions people ask

Which year of the A-Class drew the most NHTSA complaints?
It's the 2019, at 46 complaints on October 10, 2026. Then the 2020 at 21, the 2021 at 11 and the 2022 at 4. The younger the car, the fewer years owners have had to report problems.
Is there a door lock recall on the A-Class?
Yes. On 2019-2022 A-Class cars and some other models, recall 26V481 puts in a new driver's door lock. Owner letters are expected September 18, 2026. Run your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Will you buy an A220 that won't start?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Let us know it's dead and where we'd find it.
