Selling a damaged or broken Mercedes-Benz CLE-Class

Being so new, the CLE-Class has a short NHTSA file: 10 complaints as of October 10, 2026, with 7 on the 2024. The engine is named most, in 4. Three reports mention a tow, and one a crash.

What the CLE is

Wikipedia lists coupe production from October 2023, in Bremen, Germany, and in Thailand. Wikipedia names the C-Class (C205 and A205) as its predecessor. It sits on the MRA2 platform shared with the current C-Class and E-Class, and uses a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic. US engines are the 2.0-liter M254 four and the 3.0-liter M256 six, both mild hybrids. EPA lists the CLE300 4matic, CLE450 4matic and AMG CLE53, each as a coupe and a convertible.

Complaints and recalls by model year

2024

The 2024 has 7 complaints and 1 crash. The electrical system and engine are named twice each. All four recall campaigns list this year:

  • 24V688000: a software error in the MBUX system on 2024 CLE 300 and CLE 450 coupes and convertibles and the AMG CLE 53 coupe. Dealers update MBUX and the parking control unit settings. The 2,025 count also covers E-Class cars.
  • 24V115000: dealers replace the main fuse box. 31,848 vehicles across many Mercedes lines.
  • 26V281000: the infotainment computer can reboot while the car is moving, which can upset the instrument panel. 144,049 vehicles across six lines.
  • 26V481000: dealers replace the driver's door lock. Its 310,667 vehicles also take in the A-Class, CLA, C-Class, GLA, GLB and GLC.

None of those counts is a CLE-only figure.

2025 and 2026

One complaint on the 2025 and two on the 2026, both of those naming the engine. The infotainment recall, 26V281000, reaches these years too. The 2025 and 2026 CLE have barely been out, so treat these counts as early.

Fix it or sell it?

On a car this young, ask a Mercedes-Benz dealer what is covered before you pay for anything, and look the car up by VIN on NHTSA's recall page. If you'd rather sell with a recall still open, read selling with an open recall. After a crash, the insurer's decision usually settles it; see wrecked or totaled.

Selling a CLE whole

  1. Note the VIN, mileage, version and body style (coupe or convertible).
  2. Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Give the location and say if it can be pushed. On a convertible, say if the top is stuck open.
  4. Leave the car complete. Missing parts change the offer.
