Selling a dead or unwanted Suzuki Kizashi

One Suzuki Kizashi recall exists because spiders could weave webs in a fuel vent line. The Kizashi had seven recall campaigns, this among them, yet just 73 owner reports in the NHTSA file dated October 10, 2026. Every Kizashi year from 2010 to 2013 carries five or six of them.

Why there are so few left

Wikipedia says the Kizashi was built from October 2009 to December 2015 at Suzuki's Sagara plant, with a 2.4-liter four. It notes that "despite a good technical record, the car had suffered from poor sales because of the Great Recession and Suzuki's withdrawal from the American and Canadian markets in 2013 and 2014." It had no successor.

The recalls, 2010-2013

Five campaigns reach every model year:

  • 14V464, spider webs: spider webs could block the canister's vent line on cars built October 2009 through July 2012. 19,249 vehicles.
  • 18V769, dust: dust in the vent line that provides fresh air to the carbon canister could restrict its air flow. 21,063 vehicles.
  • 14V811, shift selector: the shift selector assembly was replaced. The 60,823 vehicles include 2010-2013 SX4s.
  • 19V187, seat cushion: the passenger's leather seat could shrink in heat and humidity, which affects the occupant sensor. The 31,302 vehicles include 2006-2013 Grand Vitaras.
  • 19V343, air bag sensor: the passenger seat's occupant classification system could read an adult as a child and turn the front air bag off. 21,052 vehicles.

Two cover one year each. On the 2010, recall 10V287 covered the hinged door of the center lower box in the front dashboard, which failed to conform to a federal requirement (5,107 vehicles). On the 2013, recall 18V331 replaced the CVT's transmission control module; its 5,786 vehicles include SX4s.

Air bags lead across all years with 14, then electrical and power train at 10 each. Three complaints report a crash and none a death. The 2013 has had less time to collect complaints.

Repair or sell

Start with NHTSA's recall lookup and your VIN; with seven campaigns, one may still be open. On a 2013 with the CVT, check recall 18V331, which covers a transmission control module that may fail, and our failing CVT guide covers the rest. If you'd rather not deal with an open recall at all, selling with an open recall explains how that works.

Selling it whole

With the VIN, title and mileage in hand, request an offer online or phone (877) 421-6008. Tell us where the Kizashi sits and whether it rolls; pickup is free anywhere in the US. Leave the parts on, and see after you sell for plates and insurance.

Questions people ask

Why was the Kizashi recalled for spiders?
Recall 14V464 says spiders could build webs inside the vent line for the evaporative canister on 2010-2013 Kizashis built October 2009 through July 2012. The listed fix was a new vent line. A later recall, 18V769, covered dust getting into the vent line that provides fresh air to the carbon canister.
Which Kizashi years have the most complaints?
In NHTSA's October 10, 2026 file, the 2010 and 2012 have 23 each and the 2011 has 22. The 2013 Kizashi, the last one built, has 5, partly because it has had the shortest time in use.
Can I sell a Kizashi with an open recall?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and there is free pickup anywhere in the US. Mention any recall you know is open when you ask for an offer.
