Complaints pile up over time, and later VF 8s have had fewer months to gather them, which is part of why the 2024 (18) and 2025 (5) counts trail. The 2023 is also the one year that all four VF 8 recall campaigns cover.

What owners report, by model year
The VF 8 is an electric SUV, sold as the VF 8 Eco and VF 8 Plus. EPA lists it from 2023 through 2027. Across those years, lane departure (12) and steering (11) are the components owners name most, then the electrical system (9) and vehicle speed control (6).
2023: steering, lane keeping and a blank screen
Lane departure and steering each come up in 8 of the 2023's 40 complaints, and the electrical system in 4. Those 40 complaints record 5 crashes, 1 fire, 5 people injured and 4 deaths.
Two recalls reach back to the early cars. Recall 23V355000 covers the 2023 only: a software error may make the multifunction head unit display go blank. VinFast updates the software for free. Recall 24V369000 lists 2022-2024 VF 8s that may have inactive ignitors in their air bags, and VinFast replaces the air bags for free.
2024-2025: fewer complaints, the same themes
The 2024 has 18 complaints, led by the electrical system (3), vehicle speed control (3) and steering (2). The 2025 has 5, with the electrical system (2) and lane departure (2) on top.
Two recalls cover 2023 through 2025. Under 24V933000, the center air bag mounted in the driver's seat may deploy improperly during a side impact crash and strike the driver's arm; dealers replace it. Under 25V559000, the driver assistance system may switch on during wide turns and move the steering wheel without warning; the fix is a software update.
