Selling a damaged or dead Volvo EX30

Two of the Volvo EX30's three recalls are for its high-voltage battery, which may short circuit and overheat. In both, owners were told to keep the charge at 70% or less until the repair is done.

An EX30 that's damaged, dead or stuck waiting on a battery repair can still be sold. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and you sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.

The battery recalls

Both campaigns name only the EX30, so their counts are EX30 counts:

  • 26V001000 (2025, 40 cars): NHTSA flags it PARK OUTSIDE. Owners were told to park outside and away from structures, and to charge no higher than 70%.
  • 26V103000 (2025, 161 cars): the same short-circuit risk. Owners were told to cap the charge at 70% while dealers inspect and replace the battery.

Wikipedia adds that in 2026 Volvo told owners of certain versions, the long-range car included, not to charge past 70%. Wikipedia lists two packs: a 51 kWh LFP battery and a 69 kWh NMC battery.

The third campaign, 26V136000, covers 1,584 cars from 2025-2026, including the 2026 EX30 Cross Country, whose seat belt warning chime may not sound. Dealers replace terminals at the audio module connector.

What owners have reported

Eleven complaints as of October 10, 2026, with 2 crashes and 2 tows. The EX30 only just came out, so owners haven't had long to file any.

A short US run

Wikipedia calls the EX30 a battery electric subcompact crossover on the SEA2 platform, related to the Smart #1 and Zeekr X, and lists the C30 DRIVe Electric as its predecessor. It says US sales end after the 2026 model year.

Fix it or sell it?

Check the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup and ask a dealer where your car stands on the battery campaigns. For a pack problem outside a recall, see EV battery failed. If the car has burned, read fire damage.

Selling the EX30

Have the VIN, the mileage and what's wrong, then request an offer or call (877) 421-6008. Tell us where it's parked, whether it powers on, and whether it's under the park-outside advice. Keep the EX30's title and your ID out for pickup; after you sell explains plates.
