Selling a damaged or dead Audi Q8 e-tron
Both recalls on the Audi Q8 e-tron are about its brakes, and both cover only the 2024 model year. NHTSA's file holds no owner complaints on it at all as of October 10, 2026. EPA data lists the model for just 2024 and 2025, so it has had little time to collect them.

- Model years in EPA data
- 2024-2025
- Owner complaints to NHTSA
- None on file
- Recall campaigns
- 2, both on the 2024, both brakes
- Battery
- 114 kWh (106 kWh usable)
- Built in
- Forest, Belgium (Audi Brussels)
- Production ended
- February 2025
- Bodies in EPA data
- Q8 e-tron, Q8 Sportback e-tron, SQ8
It is also no longer made. Wikipedia, which covers it together with the earlier e-tron, gives production as September 2018 to February 2025. If yours is wrecked or won't charge, you can sell the whole car as it sits. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
The two brake recalls
EPA's two model years make up one generation, so the story here is the recalls.
24V428000, filed June 10, 2024. It covers certain 2024 Q8 e-tron quattro and Q8 Sportback e-tron quattro SUVs. The brake line connection may have been over-tightened and can fail. Dealers inspect the brake pressure line and replace it as needed, free of charge. Owner letters went out July 9, 2024. The campaign counted 65 vehicles, all of them these two Q8 e-tron versions.
26V240000, filed April 15, 2026. This one concerns a fastener in the brake pedal linkage. Dealers inspect the pushrod screw joint and tighten it as needed, free. Owner letters went out April 28, 2026. Its 18,853-vehicle count is not the Q8 e-tron's alone: the campaign also takes in the 2019-2023 Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback, plus the 2024 SQ8 versions.
Wikipedia also notes that Audi recalled certain e-tron models in June 2019 for a water leak that could short the high-voltage electronics, and in extreme cases cause a fire. That was the earlier e-tron. It is not one of the two campaigns NHTSA lists for the Q8 e-tron.
NHTSA record by model year
Owner complaint figures reflect NHTSA's October 10, 2026 data.
| Model year | Owner complaints | Recall campaigns | Systems the recalls name |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | None on file | 2 | Brake lines and fittings; brake pedal and linkage |
| 2025 | None on file | 0 | none |
Fix it or sell it?
First, the repairs that cost nothing. Run the VIN through NHTSA's lookup and let a dealer close out any brake recall left open. If braking feels wrong in the meantime, bad brakes explains what to do.
After that, the decision usually turns on what happened to the car:
- Battery trouble. Wikipedia lists a 114 kWh pack, 106 kWh usable, on both the Q8 e-tron and the SQ8 e-tron. The EV battery guide covers the questions to ask first.
- A crash. See wrecked or totaled and insurer totaled it.
- Water. See flood damage.
- A loan still on it. See still owe on the loan.
Price the repair on paper, then check asking prices for a running Q8 e-tron or Sportback like yours.
How the sale works
- Tell us the version. EPA lists the Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron, quattro and ultra quattro, and the SQ8 versions, on 20-inch or 21-inch wheels.
- Ask for an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Describe it: does it power on, does it roll, and where is it parked? A driveway, a dealer's service lot or a body shop all work. The truck comes to it.
- Leave it whole, battery and wheels included.
- Bring the title and a photo ID. After you sell covers plates and insurance.

Questions people ask
- Which recalls cover the Audi Q8 e-tron?
- Two, both on the 2024. Recall 24V428000 is for a brake line connection that may have been over-tightened. Recall 26V240000 is for a fastener at the brake pedal pushrod. An Audi dealer handles either one at no charge; nhtsa.gov/recalls shows whether your SUV still needs them.
- Why does the Q8 e-tron have no NHTSA complaints?
- None had been filed by NHTSA's October 10, 2026 count. With only the 2024 and 2025 in EPA data, the Q8 e-tron has spent few years on the road gathering any.
- Is the Q8 e-tron the same vehicle as the Audi e-tron?
- Wikipedia covers them in one article, built in Forest, Belgium, from September 2018 to February 2025. EPA lists the e-tron for 2019-2023 and the Q8 e-tron for 2024-2025. Recall 26V240000 covers both.
- Will you buy a Q8 e-tron with a dead battery?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Mention if the 114 kWh pack is flat or dead and if the SUV can roll.
