Selling a junk or non-running Infiniti G20
Of the G20's 92 complaints in NHTSA's file, 21 sit on the 1995, the highest of any year. Four of those 1995 complaints name the structure, which no other G20 year lists among its top components. Every one of the car's 3 recall campaigns also lands on the early cars, 1991 to 1996.

A G20 that won't start, burns coolant or has rusted out can still be sold. We buy whole non-running and junk cars. You sell the whole car as it sits, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
The early cars, 1991-1996
These six model years hold 63 of the G20's 92 complaints. Engine and cooling, power train and seat belts come up again and again in their top components.
The recalls explain part of the seat belt story:
- 97V071, 1991-1992. The release button in the rear seat belt buckles was not made to spec. In hot weather the plastic welds holding it to the spring can fail, so the belt may only partly latch. Dealers replace the rear buckles.
- 96V083, 1993-1995. When the front belt pre-tensioner fires, its gas can ignite a wiring connector cover sitting next to it. Dealers swap in covers that resist the gas.
- 97V072, 1991-1996. It only covers G20s first sold or currently registered in certain states. NHTSA's list includes Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. The dealer checks the filler tube and fits a new one.
Those campaigns list 36,000, 79,000 and 85,000 vehicles. Other Infiniti or Nissan models may sit inside those totals, so none of them is a G20 headcount.
The later cars, 1999-2002
After 1996 the complaint file picks up again at 1999. The 1999 to 2002 cars have 29 complaints between them and no recalls. The 1999 has the most injuries of these years: owners reported 4 injured on a year with 7 complaints, and seats top its components. The 2000 and 2001 show 1 injured each. The 2000 adds suspension, and the 2002 has 2 air bag complaints out of 5.
G20 complaints and recalls, year by year
These are the G20 owner reports in NHTSA's file as of our October 10, 2026 check. Early G20s have driven the most years, which gave owners more chances to file.

Repair it or let it go?
Engine and engine cooling is the G20's top complaint area overall, with 17 complaints. On a car this old, a cooling or engine repair is often weighed against a small resale number. Put the shop's number on paper next to the price a running G20 of the same year fetches near you. A small gap between those two figures favors letting this one go unrepaired. Our guides on old or high-mileage cars and what a junk car is worth cover how buyers price it.
Put the VIN into NHTSA's recall lookup too, so you know whether a seat belt or fuel tube recall was ever done.

Questions people ask
- Which G20 model year has the most NHTSA complaints?
- The 1995, with 21 of the car's 92 complaints as of October 10, 2026. Structure leads that year's components (4), then engine and engine cooling (3) and power train (3).
- Does the G20 have any recalls after 1996?
- No. All 3 recall campaigns NHTSA lists for the G20 cover 1991-1996 cars: two for seat belts and one for the fuel filler tube. NHTSA's file lists no recall for the 1999-2002 cars.
- Will you take a G20 that hasn't started since it was parked?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Flat tires or locked brakes on the G20 change which truck we send, so mention them.
