Selling a junk or dead Infiniti M35
The first M35 drew the most complaints, and they don't point at one thing. The 2006 has 210 owner complaints in NHTSA's file, tallied October 10, 2026, more than any other M35 year. They split almost evenly: 49 filed under steering, 48 under air bags and 47 under seats.

Every model year at a glance
M35 complaints by year, from that October 10 tally. A single recall campaign often spans several M35 years.

The 2006 and 2007 hold 365 of the 543 complaints. The 2011-2013 M35s got a shorter window to draw complaints, though even they are more than a decade old.
Two generations of M35
EPA lists the M35 from 2006 to 2013, with the all-wheel-drive M35x and, later, the M35h hybrid. The M37 and M37x sit alongside it in EPA's data.
Third generation, 2006-2010. Built from December 2004. Wikipedia lists a 3.5-liter VQ35DE V6 at 280 hp, rear- or all-wheel drive, and a 5-speed then a 7-speed automatic. IIHS named these M models a Top Safety Pick, with Good scores in all four of its crash tests. This generation has 461 of the 543 complaints.
Fourth generation, 2011-2013. Built from December 2009 and designed by Hideo Komuro, with a 7-speed automatic. The M35 hybrid uses a lithium-ion pack rated at 1.4 kWh. It has 82 complaints. After the 2013 model year Infiniti renamed the M the Q70.
Recalls on the 2006-2010 cars
The accelerator pedal (13V430). On 2006-2010 M35s and M45s, the accelerator pedal sensor signal may deteriorate over time. Dealers replace the pedal assembly and reprogram the engine control module. The campaign names only the M35 and M45, built April 4, 2004 through October 5, 2010: 98,307 cars. Vehicle speed control shows up in 25 complaints across all years.
Passenger air bag inflators. Four campaigns replace the front passenger inflator on these years: 15V226 (2006 cars in certain regions), 16V349, 17V028 and 20V008. They span FX, I35, M45, Versa and other models, with campaign sizes from 12,606 to 413,852, so those totals are not M35 counts. Air bags is also the M35's largest complaint category at 132, though the category alone does not say what was wrong.
Tire pressure sensors (09V393). 2008-2010 cars sold in or registered in listed states, among them Michigan, Illinois and Massachusetts, get a sturdier TPMS nut. 143,223 vehicles across several models.
Steering and seats, the other two big complaint categories on the 2006-2007, have no recall in this list.
The hybrid years: 2012-2013 M35h
The hybrid has its own recalls:
- 16V527: a system overheat can trip the hybrid powertrain control. Dealers reprogram the hybrid control module, transmission control unit and inverter. 1,140 cars, all M35 Hybrids.
- 14V583: engine computer reprogramming for the accelerator on 2013-2014 M35 hybrids, in a 6,562-vehicle campaign with the Q50 hybrid.
- 20V755 and 24V470: on two-wheel-drive cars, the driveshaft can fatigue and break, and dealers replace it. These campaigns also cover the M56, Q50 and Q70.
For the 2011, 11 of its 31 complaints fall under power train, the top group, but that label gives no detail on the fault. If a 2012-2013 M35h's hybrid system has quit, our hybrid battery guide explains how to weigh the repair.
Fix it or sell it?
Get a price on the fix, then check what a running M35 with similar miles sells for. If the fix nears or passes that, sell it as it sits.
- Run your VIN at NHTSA. On a 2006-2010 M35, ask a dealer first about the pedal recall and the passenger air bag recall.
- Steering or seat trouble on a 2006-2007? There's no recall to lean on, so get a written quote before deciding.
- Hybrid warning on a 2012-2013? Ask whether the hybrid software and driveshaft recalls were done.
Selling an M35 whole
- Note the VIN, the miles, and whether it's an M35, an M35x or an M35h.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Say where the M35 sits and if it rolls in neutral.4. Don't strip it. Keep the wheels, seats and catalytic converters on. Anything already removed changes the offer.
- For the hand-off, the M35's title and your photo ID are all the paperwork. See after you sell for plates and insurance.

Questions people ask
- Which M35 model year has the most NHTSA complaints?
- The 2006, with 210 of the M35's 543 in NHTSA's count dated October 10, 2026. The 2007 is second at 155. No later M35 year goes past 60, and the later ones have also been driven for a shorter stretch.
- Is there a recall for the M35 accelerator pedal?
- Yes. Recall 13V430 covers 2006-2010 M35s and M45s whose accelerator pedal sensor signal may deteriorate. Dealers replace the pedal assembly and reprogram the engine computer. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
- Do the M35 air bag recalls apply only to the M35?
- No. The passenger air bag inflator campaigns on 2006-2010 M35s (15V226, 16V349, 17V028 and 20V008) also cover other Infiniti and Nissan models, so their vehicle counts are not M35s alone.
- Will you buy an M35h with a dead hybrid system?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Mention any dash lights your M35 shows and if it can still move.
