Selling an Infiniti Q40

The Q40 had one model year, 2015, and NHTSA lists no recalls for it. Owners filed 8 complaints, and 3 of them name the air bags.

A G37 with a new name

Infiniti moved to a new naming scheme with the 2014 model year: Q for cars, QX for SUVs. Wikipedia says the G was supposed to give way to the Q50, but the G37 sedan returned as the Q40 for 2015. It is the fourth-generation V36 body. Sedan production ran from September 2006 to June 2015. EPA data lists a Q40 and a Q40 AWD.

Wikipedia lists the G37 sedan with a 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V6 rated at 328 hp for 2008-2014, and notes that the 2015 got different headlights. Because the Q40 is the same car, the earlier G37 years carry a much longer complaint record; see our G37 page.

Q40 owner reports to NHTSA, counted by us on October 10, 2026. Eight reports on a single model year is a small sample, so read it as a hint, not a ruling. The Q40 has been on the road for more than ten years, so its record is not short for lack of time.

Repair or sell

With no recall on file, there is no free dealer fix to wait for. That leaves your own repair bill. An air bag light, a stability-control warning or an electrical fault each needs a scan before anyone can tell you what it costs. If the car was in a crash and the bags went off, the airbags deployed guide explains why that often tips the decision. For heavier crash damage, see wrecked or totaled.

Get the quote in writing. If that figure nears the market price of a running 2015 Q40, the repair rarely pays back.

How to sell it whole

  1. Find the VIN and note the mileage and what's wrong.
  2. Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
  3. Share the location, whether the wheels turn, and if it's the AWD build.
  4. Leave the parts on. You sell the whole car as it sits.
  5. Have the title and ID at pickup. The truck comes to the car, free anywhere in the US.

The sedan meant to replace it is the Q50. Before the Q40 name it was the G37, and the G37 sedan replaced the G35 for 2009.

Questions people ask

Is the Q40 just a G37?
Per Wikipedia, yes. The G was meant to be replaced by the Q50, but the G37 came back as the Q40 for the 2015 model year. Sedan production of that body ended in June 2015.
Does the Q40 have any recalls?
NHTSA listed none for the 2015 Q40 as of October 10, 2026. Still enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls; a VIN check is the only way to be sure about your car.
Will you buy a Q40 after a crash?
Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, wrecked ones included, with free pickup anywhere in the US.
